Lance’s siblings send him howlers with Shakira songs in them. It’s now a normal occurrence in the Hogwarts dining hall to see Lance on his house’s table, belting out the lyrics louder than the howler. First years are constantly confused by the spectacle.
Ravenclaw Lance- Definitely one he could go in Slytherin Lance- I can see where the traits apply to him Hufflepuff Lance- Perfect?? For him?? Gryffindor Lance- Sorry but this one tops them all- My second choice would be Hufflepuff definitely but let's face it, the sorting hat would sort him with the Gryffindors. One reason being because he would WANT to go to this house and isn't that how Harry got in? Cause he asked to be. Plus all those traits fit him to a T. Gryffindor Lance all the way!
YES!!! This is the main reason why I can’t ever see Lance being in Slytherin because he wouldn’t want to be. I mean, if we’re going HP canon, that’s the house with the prejudice and the elite and those with the most bad ideals and shit about blood purity and stuff. I can see why a lot of people put him in Slytherin, because imo Gryffindor and Slytherins are the closest houses similarly, followed by Slytherins and Ravenclaws.
This… got kind of long, lol. I’M SUCH A NERD FOR HARRY POTTER. So more of my crying about Gryffindor Lance under the cut.
Lance is one of those people who are like text book Gryffindor to me. He doesn’t really value knowledge, intelligence, wisdom, wit like in Ravenclaw. Or teamwork, kindness, patience, or fair play in Hufflepuff. Also doesn’t really value cunningness, self preservation, cleverness, etc. Although my next house for him would definitely be Hufflepuff, then Ravenclaw, then Slytherin after Gryffindor because of there are some traits he values from each of those houses!!!
Lance values bravery, daring, chivalry, determination, seeking glory, etc. He’s very into the heroics of it all, and being recognized for it, even though he does what he does out of the goodness of his heart as well. (”Do you think we’ll get a parade?” “It’s not about the glory, Lance.” “I know… But still.”) He’s short tempered, especially around Keith, and also in high pressure situations. There’s a bit of a really big moral center, which could be considered self righteous which is a common trait among Gryffindors that he has too, but it’s often used with good intentions and trying to ground other teammates. (Keith, again. “You’re just scared to do what’s right.”) His self preservation goes out the window, not because he’s seeing himself as worthless and invaluable, but because his love for other people and his want to protect the innocent, to be a hero, trumps anything else.
Gryffindor is one of those houses where they are extremely loyal, not to just a one house, but houses that demand protection from other houses. Lance doesn’t just choose a select group of people to defend, that’s a Slytherin thing since they’re very into fraternity and protecting their own with a certain fierceness that’s so good, but it’s generally with the helpless, like him and the Yupper in S2. Gryffindors and Slytherins both have a certain disregard of the rules, but I think it’s important to see why. When Lance breaks the rules back in the Garrison, it’s to spend time with his team and to get them to bond more, and no one ends up getting hurt unless they agree to join. Slytherins are ambitious so they tend to break the rules more if it’s to better themselves or their teams or close allies that they have, and are willing to go a lot further because of their ambitiousness.
ALSO ALSO!!! One of my favorite things about Lance is his nerve. He’s the one to try a different thinking even if it’s not the popular one, he sticks to his guns. Bc lbr standing up to Shiro one of his heroes takes a lot of bravery and nerve, pulling moves in Voltron that may not be planned out completely is another example, also the fact that he’s like THE ONE TO CHALLENGE KEITH THE MOST. Lmao also he’s a lil reckless, maybe not as much as Keith, but he does end up getting himself into some tricky situations because of his impulsiveness, while also thinking other aspects through.
IDK MAN, I JUST CAN’T SEE HIM IN ANY OTHER HOUSE BESIDES GRYFFINDOR!!! They’re his people!!!!!
Lance had just gotten out of Charms as he made his way towards the lake. There was a spot he liked to sit at while he attempted to do his homework. He had to do his Transfigurations homework that was due in an hour.
But as he made his way toward his spot by the lake, he saw an all too familiar boy sitting in his spot. He stopped abruptly beside him, staring down at him pointedly.
