A few glasses of red wine had given Delphi the greatest idea - she was going to make a dating profile. She’d always sort of scoffed at the idea of online dating - she was certain that was for people younger than her. But it had been months since her last date, and even longer since she’d met anyone she was even slightly interested in, so with a bit of liquid courage in her system, she downloaded Tinder and started swiping.
It didn’t take long before she’d been matched with a couple of potential partners. The woman felt slightly rusty at witty banter, but things seemed to be going well enough. Well enough, at least, for one such person to suggest that the two meet. Nothing serious. Just a casual date at a local coffee shop. Despite her nervousness, Del agreed.
And now, she was waiting at a table in the cozy spot, the smell of roasting beans heavy in the air, the sounds of milk steaming and dishes clanking bringing an unexpected sort of calm to the woman. She sat in a pair of dark wash jeans and a snug black turtleneck. It somehow seemed flirtatious despite its high neckline, thanks to how the fabric stretched taut against her chest. Tendrils of red hair teased the collar of her shirt and periwinkle blue eyes glanced from her warm mug to the door, then back to her beverage.
Pursing her lips she blew a stream of cool air onto the dark beverage and took a sip, when suddenly, someone was sliding into the booth across from her.
