Dan Gurney was the primary driver of CSX2299, although the car was also wheeled by Bob Bondurant, Jack Sears, Dick Thompson and others.

The Daytona Coupes ran a 385-horsepower version of Ford’s 289 cid V8 fed by four Weber two-barrel carburetors.
To conform to GT class rules, the Daytona had to be able to accommodate a spare tire and other road going features such as a horn.
