Hi, GT Network! I'm Emily

She/her/hers, cis, bisexual, Cuban, Jewish

I'm linguistically gifted (good at writing, debate, analysis, and foreign languages, but pretty average with math and science, and absolute shit at spatial intelligence stuff like chess, tic tac toe, etc.), and I'm looking forward to meeting new people on thegtnetwork! In my  school district, there were very few opportunities for gifted kids to access specifically gifted programs or gifted spaces (the closest we had were AP classes), so this is really exciting for me. Due to the lack of gifted programs, I ended up skipping several grade levels and graduated 4th in my high school class of 157 before turning 16 (with 33 college credits and two 5s on AP Exams). I love opera, theater, fashion, travel, reading, writing, and politics. My favorite TV show is the West Wing, and my prized possessions include a giant (as in takes-up-a-whole-wall), dry-erase world map, a bent nail from backstage at the Metropolitan Opera House, a stuffed red bear named Osito, and a vocal score of Puccini's Manon Lescaut that my voice teacher gave to me. My blog, hiimicarus, is technically my personal blog, but I reblog a lot about antisemitism, feminism, socialism, and occasionally cute elephants. Message me if you want to chat! :)
