Leo was first attracted to Guang-hong because of Guang-Hong's scent. Insense.
Incense is a rare scent, There are different types of incense scents. Guang's is smoky like burning incense, he's easily mistaken as alpha by his scent.
Betas colloquially being classified as yuè bÄng (mooncakes) originally really confused Leo when he first went to China, because he thought it was a pet name. It made him feel very awkward when everyone and their mother called him it. Until Guang told him it was common Chinese slang for Betas because of how varied they are just like the festival cake.
Guang was initially perplexed the first time he was taken to Mexico on Holiday with Leo because of how highly gendered the language of Spanish was. Mandarin and Spanish were nothing alike. After earning they name "Shai-Shia" Leo returned the the sentiment his petname for Guang "Mi cielito" meaning my little shy or my little heaven.
Guang-hong responds to Leo trying to learn Mandarin usually for repeated something that he's said. With amusement and slight exasperation when Leo does it when trying to talk to his parents. because he repeats a sentence mispronouncing a word and it confused his mother who he talks to a lot.
Leo is endlessly fascinated complexity of Mandarin.
Sadly for Leo Guang-hong isn't as enthusiastic about learning Spanish.
