if you'd ask her she'd tell you there was simply no one else to do it. varric is "hurt," harding is unwilling to take on a leadership role, and no one else who knows the truth about solas is in a position to help the way rook is (essentially has solas trapped in her head). SOMEONE has to stop him and if no one else will do it then it's gotta be rook.
in secret, the real answer is because varric said "take care of the team for me." they both understood that what he was really saying was "if i die please finish my mission (save save the world but please also save my friend solas)." and while she doesn't know he's dead, or at least, 99% of her doesn't know, solas doesn't need to use a blood magic puppet to convince her to see this thing through to the end. she's doing it for varric, who gave her her name, because she loves him OHHH my god i just made myself so sad. ohhh my god okay okay everybody calm down

oh like so incredibly well actually. she's very good at improvisation because she grew up in free marcher ports learning to lie to adults, she's used to staying calm under stress because her entire life has been one shit-hits-the-fan crisis after another, and she has the capability to think and to fight so she can rely on herself in any given sitch. magic has caused a lot of pain in her life but it also gets her out of a lot of tight spots.
