This isn’t really a headcanon question per se, but I’d love to know what inspired the creation of the twins + their universe if you’d like to talk about it!
OUT. || Oh, I would absolutely love to talk about it! The first idea for the twins actually came from one of those “send me an FC and I’ll talk about an NPC in my muse’s life” memes on my main muse. Two people had sent in the same FC, so I decided to make this story about twins that were in my muse’s life. The muse is a supernatural creature, so things started getting supernatural. The twins absolutely weren’t exactly how they are now, but the idea of immortal seers where one sees all the good stuff and one sees all the bad stuff came to be from that meme. — If I remember correctly, they didn’t even have the names Henry and Tom yet, but they were something else. They definitely didn’t have the same FC, either! But the skeleton of their idea was born… and it wouldn’t leave me alone! I started obsessing over these characters who had been born of nothing, and I was starting to get really antsy about them! I didn’t even think anyone would want to hear about them, in all honesty!
So then I started talking to a few of my friends about whether a blog for two muses would even work. First, I wanted to find someone to write one of the twins, and be affiliated OCs with each other, but the more that I started to develop their ideas, the more I realized that the universe that was coming into my mind sort of needed to stay within one mind. When I started to get some support ( especially from Haley over at @herstolenson ), I decided I’d at least TRY to set up the blog, and I reached out to Briar ( @malefisensational, who keeps me looking good ) to help me set up a visual brand for the boys. They’re amazing, btw, highly recommend.
So then… I started putting together their BASIC bio! And honestly, the universe itself didn’t really come together until somewhat recently. I knew there were a few things I really wanted: I wanted them to be immortal, but immortal humans, which was a ‘species’ that I had never really heard about. I wanted to write about these characters who could still be hurt, still be sick. They weren’t invulnerable, and they don’t fight at heightened speeds. They’re people still, at their core, and I think that that changed how I started to think about their views of immortality and their extended life. I focused majorly on the CHARACTERS/span> of the boys first, putting together their lives, without worrying too much about the mythology of their extended universe. As interested as I was in exploring that universe, I knew that the majority — if not all — of my interactions would be happening in basic or crossover verses. As interested as I was in these original characters, I know that many people don’t want to be bothered with learning the minutiae of a brand-new universe for an OC, and I get it??? We all have stuff to do! I get the same way oftentimes!
BUT. There was the fact that I had to at least explain to those who wanted to read it…. I needed to explain Fate. Fate has such a specific and personalized role in the boys’ lives, and I knew I needed to expand on the “Fate is a Woman” idea that is behind most of the boys’ roles as seers. So then… I started writing. I put together my own cosmogony for this universe, and it just made sense within the idea that I was working with that there are these species that interact with the universe in a little bit of a different way than the way our current mythologies do. And I sort of???? fell in love with this universe???
I hope this long and meandering explanation helped you see the journey the twins have taken so far! I have a lot of long metas that are specifically building the universe around the boys more which are due to come out soon! I’ve begun expanding on other species that exist within their default verse, along with the mythology and history of the types of immortals they are… I’m even going to touch on what fairies look like within their universe! I hope you, and anyone else, will enjoy peeking into their default universe, even if it will be rarely written :D :D :D
