“If You Want to Go Fast, Go Alone. If You Want to Go Far, Go Together.”-African Proverb. Teamwork-This is something that I’ve learned over many years at @barstarzz, and a lesson that I’m being taught once again with Global Recon. I put a lot of effort into what is being built here, and it has changed over time as have the circumstances. Truly all of the great men and women that I’ve met since setting out on this path have made it worth while. A lot people have large followings on social media with military themed profiles. So I ask these individuals’ what are you doing for the veteran community? How are are you contributing? The likes and followers are nice, but you should use this tool called social media for something bigger then yourself. I’m not the most religious person, but my friend Tu @ronintactics once asked me how come I do what I do? I told him I wasn’t sure honestly. His reply was that “God put you on this path” and that really resonated. The same reason that he walks the path of the warrior, as do many of those working in a collective effort pushing the community forward. The effort that was made after Staff Sergeant Matthew McClintock who recently made the ultimate sacrifice is proof of what I’m saying. The community came together, and donated hard earned money to help his grieving family during a time of need. With elements of #GlobalRecon @aviationstig and other warfighters @loren_notaseal making sure the events surrounding the incident in Marjah were accurately told while keeping OPSEC (Operational Security). The picture from the 19SFG inside the compound surrounded by the Taliban while raising the American flag is iconic. I’m glad It has made rounds just as a reminder to people of what that flag means, and to remember men like Matt who have given it all to defend it. Freedom isn’t free.
