As per the Global Innovation Index 2018 which focused on "Energizing the World with Innovation". This report annually published by Cornell University, INSEAD and the World Intellectual Rights (WIPO). They ranked 126 countries based on 80 indicators, ranging from Property rights to education and Scientific and Technical Publication. Switzerland
This is one the country who spends around 8% of its GDP on Research & Development. It ranked first in various patent and IP related indicators as well as second in high and medium high tech manufacturing production. In terms of Scientific Publication, they contribute around 1.2% of World’s Publication. But talking about the Swiss National Fund, they have examined more than 70000 application for the promotion of scientific research and has enabled more than 20000 young researchers to engage in Researches.
As per the report of Intellectual property right indicator, Switzerland comes in 5th rank in terms of Resident patent applications per $100 billion GDP. No. of the application by Switzerland is around 843 following by the USA, Finland, Denmark, etc. In 2016, the Swiss federal technology institute came 4th in Europe behind British universities. 19th ranked in the Times Higher Education World Reputation Ranking. Above all The Federal Polytechnic School of Zurich ranked 8th Best University in the World.
Sweden
Sweden contributes around 3% of its GDP in R&D. They are maintaining their 1st position for patent application and boosting its online creativity. Proper infrastructure development from North to South and East to West from Railways to Telecommunication because here are some innovations which are actually by Swedish. Like Telephone, Television, Steam Engine, Fax Machine, World Wide Web, Computer, Portable Music Player, Light Bulb, etc. As per the report of KPMG, Britain is the third most promising market for disruption and technology. In addition, Britain's tech sector continues to robust grow because of large spending on R&D. As nearly 19 % of 800 techs, global industry leaders named the UK is the best tech innovative country.
In other words with more than 75 noble prizes in science and technology to Britain. It now is as an innovation hub. Companies like Dyson (Bag less Vacuum and Bladeless Fans) contributes more $3 million in R&D. ARM Holding ( their High-Performance chip and microprocessors). USA
The USA is one of the top contributors in Research and Development. They come second after China in the volume of researches and Scientific and Technical Publication. As per the report of KPMG, 39% of tech industry leader named the USA as a tech innovative country. They also occupied the world's top Universities like Harvard, Stanford, Oxford and Massachusetts Institute Of Technology. In 2015, Patents are created more than 30 lakh and patent per 1000 people it is around 9.3.
Giant companies like Apple, Facebook, Twitter, IBM, Microsoft, Amazon, Google, etc. But these companies now came with new ideas for developing themselves as well as new startups. In the 20th Century, the entering of new companies like Tesla, Space X, and LinkedIn made innovative. . But now the USA is focusing on disruptive innovation.
Finland
In top 10 Countries Known for Their Innovation Finland stand at 5th position. This country is known for the Giant mobile company Nokia. They spent around 3.75% in Research & Development.
