New on Achtoonbaby: PJ reviewed the new documentary "Guggi" and left with the idea that one small, unpretentious man can contain an entire world. Oh, and Bono was there, too.
Watercolor by me, based on a still from the film.
Guggi at the Tribeca Film Festival Or, That Time I Went to the Movies with Bono PJ DeGenaro Whether you watch Guggi as a modern
I saw the truly lovely documentary Guggi yesterday evening at the Tribeca Film Festival. Guggi is a fascinating painter and sculptor, a lifelong friend of Bono(!), and just a great guy who is unpretentious about his art, honest, funny, and willing to talk to anyone. He was also in the Dublin proto-goth band Virgin Prunes with Gavin Friday. That's my picture of him on the left. My friend got the picture of Bono. (I always falter and become incapable in his presence.) Anyway, Bono (and his wife, Ali) were sat two rows behind me in the theater, so I can now say I went to the movies with Bono. Check out this absolute renaissance painting of a photo I snuck:
Also, the Knicks won! I❤️NY.
Edited to add this shot of the tiny men by Dia Dipasupil. Those eyeglass frames are apparently a Thing? Because the director was wearing them too. Lordt.
