well ive been quite out of the loop lately but martin garrix is definitely not a name that inspires confidence
Yeah. He seems like a nice guy, but he's not a great musical influence on a band that doesn't really need one.

Reblog if you will never. Ever. Use AI in your writing.
“In the air your summer dress has left me floating”
This is the only way I can process “Fireflies” without barfing. I keep trying to work on a fic, and every couple of weeks I’m stymied by U2 putting out some mid content that I hope won’t be on their new album. I thought they were working with Eno? Anyway, if you’ve followed me for any amount of time, you know I have defended U2 to the death, but I don’t even recognize them right now. I don’t know who they’re trying to court with these facile lyrics and predictable noises, but I hope it works for them.
What do you mean, 47 years of fandom "down the tubes"?
I mean I've been a U2 fan since 1983 and I am disappointed in the direction they seem to be taking.
Initial thoughts on "Fireflies," U2's single with Martin Garrix:
I want to seal it in a jar till it dies.
Absolute Coldplay bullshit. Edge almost saves it, but not quite. 47 years of fandom down the tubes.
just saw someone post “it’s common knowledge ur not supposed to spam reblog from someone ur not mutuals with” …..?????????? am i confused??? IS that common knowledge???? i try not to spam if i can help it but i actually personally love seeing spam notifs lmao??? unless i dont know what spam reblog means
Reblog if you like it when people “spam reblog” from you or whenever that means at any time
B: I am touching your shoulder with my shoulder. E: Like I care.
(He cares.)
B: I think it is time to end our unholy alliance with Martin Garrix. He is making us sound like Coldplay.

im confiscating bob dylan and leonard cohen and simon & garfunkel and janis ian and joan baez and neil diamond and lou reed the mamas and papas and the band from the antisimetic music nerds on here who love to say casually horrific things about jews and have ZIONISTS KYS in their bio while making their blog revolve around musicians who are/were most definitely zionists
.
genuinely saw a 'zionists kys' blog with a Leonard Cohen header ????
I think it got nuked though
no more Broadway or most any standards of the American songbook for any of them. Irving Berlin, Jerome Kern, George and Ira Gershwin, Lorenz Hart, Rodgers and Hammerstein, Leonard Bernstein, Stephen Sondheim, Stephen Schwartz, Yip Harburg, Sheldon Harnick, Jerry Bock, Jule Styne, Frank Loesser, Lerner and Loewe, Kander and Ebb, Andrew Lippa, Charles Strouse, Maury Yeston, Marc Shaiman, Claude-Michel Schönberg, William Finn, Benj Pasek, Mel Brooks…
no Disney or Pixar movies with any music by Howard Ashman, Alan Menken, or Randy Newman. as mentioned, no Barbra Streisand or Leonard Cohen or Simon and Garfunkel or Neil Diamond etc. no Carole King or Billy Joel or Barry Manilow or Lenny Kravitz or Sammy Davis Jr. no Amy Winehouse or P!nk or The Beastie Boys or Haim or KISS or Idina Menzel or Regina Spektor or Itzhak Perlman. the list goes on, and that’s only in the world of music.
Here's what I said about this situation on FB: I don't hate this? Injecting U2 into your EDM makes the EDM more emotionally substantial. Unfortunately, injecting EDM into your U2 makes U2 seem less substantial. Maybe if U2 wants to be known to the EDM crowd, they could make a record something along the lines of "Pop."
Edge gave it form. He sounds great.

The last photo of mine of the former site of Dublin Hebrew Congregation, Terenure, Dublin, Ireland. This site was sold to developers and the synagogue is being demolished, and in its place housing is being built. This picture was taken on Fujicolor 200 35mm film using a Nikon F80 SLR and Nikkor 50mm f1.4G lens, and developed using Arista C-41 chemistry.

Dave Kendall, the journalist and former MTV VJ who created and hosted the iconic alternative rock video show 120 Minutes, has died. Matt Pin
This sucks. "120 Minutes" was the best reason to stay up on a Sunday night, even as MTV's corporate overlords punished us by pushing its time slot deeper and deeper into Monday morning.
