I took this '74 Fender Bronco on as a labour of love/long term project for a friend, for the cost of parts only, simply to try and deal with the mess of a refinish that had been applied by the previous owner (top right corner), and generally get it back in playing order. It was super dicey. Unfortunately my idea of long term project, didn't exactly line up with the owners, and I had to make good on my word, a lot quicker in the end than I had anticipated. No bad blood, no issue with the owner, it's totally fine and I'm happy to take responsibility for the mistake. So anyways, as of last week, this thing was sitting with just a primer coat and it was humid as hell/rainy all week, shooting paint was super tricky but with a boatload of patience, and essentially turning my kitchen into a climate controlled paint booth, it got there in the end. As for everything else on and in this thing, I wanted to do away with the awful pickguard, so used it as a template for the black one, then switched up the control system to a simply 3 way toggle, 1 tone, 1 volume, plate mounted jack, and threw in an old Ibanez INF humbucker in the neck and another random ibanez single coil in the bridge. I really did want to spend a lot longer on this, and source soon really rad stuff, but just had to go with what was on hand and wouldn't cost me an arm and a leg, and oh look I wrote a novel. Btw, it sounds rad! #customguitar #fender #bronco #vintagefender #vintageguitars #guitartech #guitarmod #custom #beexcellenttoeachother #cursedobjects #brisbane #stayrad
