I have been looking back through the archives lately and found this shot of a lovely 1966 #Gibson #ES125 we found at #BernunzioUptownMusic in #Rochester, #NewYork. I believe it was August 2013. My cousin tried this #guitar out and fell in love with it on the spot. Had it been me, I would have bought it right then and there...but he has strict rules in his house: 1) you gotta clear any new purchases with the Boss (aka his wife!), AND 2) if you are going to buy something you have to have the money for it...no credit card purchases! So we went home to #Toronto, and he put 2 or 3 of his #guitars up on Kijiji to raise some money. Anyhoo: 6 months later...the guitars have sold, he's raised the cash, and by some divine miracle THE ES125 HASN'T SOLD YET! So he pops down to Rochester and scoops it up. Lucky b*stard! #Straturday this week courtesy of #SamAsh on West 34th Street in #Manhattan. Here's a 1966 #Stratocaster in factory original #customcolor black. One thing I learned from Fender expert and author of "Fender: The Golden Age 1946 to 1970", @terry_foster, is that black is actually one of the rarest of the custom colours. It seems counterintuitive because black Fenders are ubiquitous today, but try and remember how many genuine, original, black finishes you have seen on pre-1970s Fenders. Aha! See what I mean?
