It was built by Voroshilovgrad Locomotive Works in 1952. Since 1963, the steam locomotive was used in Latvia. Class L locomotive L-4578 specs: Power – 1648 kW; Maximum speed 90 km/h; Length – 23,7 meters; Weight – 170 tons; Fueled by heavy fuel oil; Water tank capacity – 28 m3. In Latvia, class L steam locomotives were used by Soviets until 1988.
