While being able to take off on short runways at high altitude airports. The G550 is considered by some aviation experts to be an ultra long haul. This essentially means that most trips are single-leg and long-range in their duration. Trips that the G4 is not capable of handling, this aircraft can travel and perform much better. Overall, the range on the aircraft is 6,750 nautical miles.

The G550 has three living areas and can seat up to 19 passengers. The aircraft seats have the option of turning into beds and can allow 5 to 6 people to rest / sleep in a standard configuration. The lavatories have been improved (forward /aft). One of those improvements being the change to a vacuum lavatory system. This allows for more safety, sanitization, less odor, removal of chemicals and can also help reduce aircraft weight and fuel usage.

The noise insulation has improved. Along with a longer cabin, it can stay fairly quiet. Especially with the cabin doors closed. One thing to note is the aircraft pressurization system. This system simulates as if you are flying between 4,000 and 6,000 ft. At these levels, you are able to breathe better and can help to reduce fatigue on long-range flights.

When flying with the G550, you will typically work with a three pilot crew. If you're traveling longer distances up to 12 hours or more, you can expect there to be a fourth pilot as well.

Due to charter limitations, this aircraft can fly for approximately 12 hours. Although, it does have the ability to fly for up to 14 hours.

The baggage is approximately 50% bigger than in the G4. It also allows you in-flight access.

The third living area can be made into a state room or an office.
