Off-the-wall superhero action comedy from Japan!
I really enjoy the effort that a small crew of fans who call themselves Garage Hero do to make original, fan-made tokusatsu. Their first full-fledged production was called “Gun Caliber”, and now they’re crowdfunding the sequel, called STREGA.
Their tokusatsu productions have a grown-up audience in mind, and that’s also refreshing for me. The tokusatsu shows I’ve enjoyed the most lately are also geared to a more adult audience, so if you enjoyed Hikōnin Sentai Akibaranger or Shougeki Gouraigan, this might interest you.
As you can see in the teaser, the suits in particular are pretty good in design and construction, and the CG work is pretty impressive for an indie production. More than anything, I appreciate the passion for tokusatsu they display, and I’d really like to see what they can make with more resources.
