One of the a-holes that works with Cagalli wants her to marry him in order to sustain the nation.

Like, he is one of the people pushing her to align with the Federation and he set the day of the wedding to the day that the Federation Alliance is finalized.

But, like Cagalli loves Athrun, so that is probably a bad idea to be married to someone for political reasons.

Also, as the viewer I already know the Federation is being influenced by a shadow government person that just wants to wipe all the Coordinators out.

So, it is a bad idea for Orb to take a side, beside yea as bad as them being attacked by the Federation was in the last war, the country still existed.

My opinion is that they should just do the same thing they did the last time, also not to mention the crew they were housing for a little bit possibly could have defended them again if they were attacked by the Federation.

So, basically betraying them by joining the Federation seems moronic imo.
