FIVE THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT GUNLOCK HOMES REAL ESTATE & DEVELOPMENT
Meet the Brad and Emily Gunlock of Gunlock Homes Real Estate & Development
1). In 2004, the year they got married, Brad started doing fix and flips and shortly thereafter Emily got her real estate license to help out with the purchases and sales of their own projects and also working with clients. It was then that the family-owned, boutique custom home-builder that is now Gunlock Homes Real Estate and Development was born.
2). What started out as fix and flips gradually grew over time. Brad enjoyed the creative process of renovating and building homes from the ground up. As more and more people gravitated to what they were doing, Gunlock Homes naturally turned into a boutique, custom-home builder.
3). Emily and Brad continue to move into one of their projects every 3-5 years. By doing this, and inviting clients into their home, it allows them to stay current and fresh and on top of all the latest design trends. It also allows them to improve upon design layouts and inevitably have their kids test the durability of selected materials. Gunlock’s focus is on quality vs quantity which allows Brad to do what he loves and personally manage each project.
4). Gunlock’s signature design trend is indoor/outdoor living. They make a point to include large double doors at the back of the house so it’s fluid with the outdoor space. They also do a lot of custom trim work, paneling, and ceiling details in every space and always include at least 10ft ceilings in the basement.
5). They focus on finding homes that are no longer functional and can’t be salvaged and rebuilding new homes that fit into the neighborhood. They currently have projects in Platt Park, Observatory Park, Cory-Merrill, and Wash Park.
