Aoife knocked on the door of her cousin’s quarters. “Charlie” she called through the door. “Its your favorite cousin.” She was joking, of course. She’d never ask Charlie to choose between her and Nora. It would be like asking her to choose between Charlie and Nora - an impossible decision. When the door swung open, she wrapped her arms around her cousin. “I wanted to see if you’re okay.”

Lorne was down by the docks. Although he’d only been back on the island a few days, he found himself feeling the sea call to him again. When he felt moments like this come over him, his way of coping was to head over to where the Black Trident was docked and just watch the waves come rolling. As he was starting out at the ocean, he saw a shadow fall across the ground in front of him. Looking around, he spotted one of the ships gunners. With a wave, he said “How’s it going Charlie? Are you itching to get back out there too?” He gestured towards the water.

At the sight of her cousin, Aoife was unable to resist a relieved smile coming to her face. She wrapped her arms around him in a hug. “Of course you’re useful” she admitted. When she pulled away from him, she nodded her head. “That’s probably a good idea. We can get some food and water while we’re headed that way too.”

Aoife was down at the docks, watching the ships gently bob up and down on the water. She had her feet dangled over the side of the docks, soaking while she sat in the sun enjoying the breeze coming in off the water. As she did so, she spotted a familiar figure walk by. “Hey Charlie!” she called out, waving to him. “Don’t you have time to say hi to your cousin anymore?” she teased him.

“Hey, smuigín!” bellow Rhys upon catching sight of Charlie. The Irish insult apparently means “snot-nosed little brat” or something like that, which his cousin could no longer be described as now that they’re fully grown men. That doesn’t mean he would stop utilising the perfectly good insult, however, courtesy of Aoife.

“Since when have you been here? Don’t act like you’ve forgotten who I am just because I’ve got a treasure trove of amazingly embarrassing stories about you.” He grinned. Would it really be family if he doesn’t throw some jibes? —— @gunnerflanagan.
