Liked this for a starter.

It hadn’t been that long since they’d met Azura. Well, to Anthony and Romeo it hadn’t been that long. Six months probably was quite long but their sense of time was a bit messed up. But that didn’t stop the shifter from considering visiting them. Azura had said that they were welcome so he planned on using that.

That had been the plan anyway. They’d stopped at a bar for a drink and something to eat. Then a bar fight had started. Because of Anthony. Romeo wasn’t surprised. But by the time they left, they were pretty beaten up. There was really only one place in town they knew so they got themselves to Azura’s, Romeo knocking on the door hesitantly.

Anthony rolled his eyes. He’d been drinking as well, not as heavily as Leo of course, so he wasn’t exactly thinking straight. “I think I could get away,” he said. “I know how to kill a man. I was in the military. And who’s to say that I won’t use, uh, finesse.” He frowned down at Leo. “Besides. I need the money. I’d even split it with you.”

The circus show had gone on as usual, and the crowd was entertained easily. The animals, the acrobats, even some of the side shows came out. There was a sword swallower, a “lizard” man, breaded lady.. and the sideshow main attraction who were far younger the other performers.. the two headed boy.

The twins’ act wasn’t much, it consisted of the two attempting to balance on a large ball. However, even after practicing the two couldn’t manage it once. Each attempt led to a hard falling to the ground, and roars of laughter from the crowd

. “Get up, freaks!” 

“Don’t fall this time!” 

“How pathetic!” 

After 3 failed attempts, the twins were escorted out, given a cheery “better luck next time” from the ring master. The two were taken by one of the strong men, leading to a tented area used in storage. 

The twins, despite struggles and cries, were thrown into a small cage and locked in. Their cage was kicked a few times, the man reprimanding them for their failures and stating cruelly that the two weren’t getting breakfast tomorrow because of it. 

With that, he left them. Alone, in the dark, in a small cage and among the other things like them. The objects.

Wynlee sat perched on top of the tallest tree that was available to him, it was a favorite of his. From here he could view the lights of the city and hear the echos of human laughter and shouting.

He usually liked to sleep there, instead of the confines of the claustrophobic cabin... sure it had food and sheltered him from predators and rain but he preferred to sleep outside

He froze when he heart footsteps nearby, that couldn’t be his human friend -- he already came by this week..

Cautiously, he looked down from where he was perched, spotting an orange haired human -- who seemed a little clumsy. He felt a mix of dread and excitement, he didn’t have any visitors come to this part of the forest. This was rare for him

          Florescent lights dot along the cityscape. Even with the uniform blocks of buildings the lights that splayed out from the homogeneous windows lining those walls were all different. Some are just a slightly different tone, others are an entirely new hue. They all shine down on the streets below through a haze of a fresh summer shower. Coupled with the identical rows of orange beams from the streetlights, they block out the view of the stars to any up-looker. But to any that lower their gaze, the lights swirled into their own glowing galaxies in the freshly formed rain puddles. 

          Perfect for one young dragon.

          Aureus leaped into one, watching in amazement as the splash retained the kaleidoscope of color as it bounds into the air. He followed it, transfixed and giddy as the water splayed out and fell back into iridescent ripples that ignited upon the child’s grinning face. He lets out a peal of laughter and leaps into another puddle.   It’s deeper than he expected. 

          The water plunges to his knees and in surprise he loses his balance, falling back into the liquid that he now remembers contains more than just water as he watches it burst into a brown stain on his shirt and onto a passing stranger. 

            ❝ Oh, ❞ The child exclaims softly, conflicted. He was sure no one else was around. This was his spot! These puddles were his! 

          But he did mess her up. And what if she got mad? 

          ❝ I’m sorry, Miss. ❞
