Counseling some members.
(OC: Date [31-07-2016] Day[Sunday])
Dear diary…
Good news from today. Gurgosh seems to be back on his feet. He seems… fine. A bit of a cough but he did nearly die when I was tending to his wounds. Good to see him back. He spent most of the day worried about his axe. He had left to find it when I came onto knowledge that it had been destroyed. Since he wasn’t in peek shape, I wouldn’t have wanted him to walk around the whole island looking for it… or some reason. It was also a good chance to speak to him about the tournament we had planned for the warband. With hopes, we can get it set up and run before anything bad happens with the legion.
Rak’raz had been acting testy again with the magister. He must have done something in the short time I had left to find Gurgosh and him catching up to me. This lead to us both being called back. For good reason I might add. He insulted the Magister after receiving and order from him which was a direct result of him spitting on the floor of the base. He was demoted and that was the end of it. He left and I followed to have other words with him like the time before where he doubted the Shade. However, I was to slow to realize the mistake I had just made. I was also called back. This meant I should have asked to be dismissed as I was called there in the first place. I was rightfully corrected for this. The magister seems to be less hostile also. Choosing to question my intelligence after a stupid mistake I made instead of insulting my intelligence, my mental capabilities and threatening me with harm.
He said I acted like a courier. But he did not know my other reasons to go find Gurgosh. I am no mere courier.
Champion Thael’rin Sunstrike arrived today to train Taryane some more. She is definitely improving. This was nice to see as she can then defend herself better. She used her blade… firestar… and it is still impressive. It again shattered another blade. He left for his own duty and Sylvarys arrived shortly after. Oddly enough he challenged Taryane to a spar. She did ok but against the Magister she wouldn’t have had a chance. But the Magister spared her no holding back on things he did either. Obviously he didn’t go all out, but he wasn’t gentle with her either. At first I thought he was just teaching her a harder lesson but something seemed off between the two by the time the fight ended. Taryane seemed agitated and the Magister pressured her to return home.
After that had ended, I found myself talking alongside Natsanna to Rak’raz and Gurgosh. They both felt the Magister acted disrespectfully and in a power trip. They failed to understand both mine and Natsanna’s point on how he acted in an offensive way. I reminded Rak’raz of some of my own past experiences with speaking with no thought in hopes that it would be a relatable example. He needs to learn soon though before he learns it the hard way like I did. They both just don’t seem to understand the chain of command. The Magister is setting standards which are being lowered by him spitting in the base whilst in uniform. If he corrects you for it and tells you to clean it up, you do it. He is the senior officer and you do what he tells you. He doesn’t have to be nice about it, especially as Rak’raz was the one in the wrong to begin with by asking such a stupid question and assuming it was one of our own who destroyed Gurgosh’s axe. It isn’t a requirement for an officer to be nice. But it is a requirement for their subordinates to do what they say without question or argument. Or in this case, insult.
I just hope they took my words to heart. Natsanna felt I did well on counseling them so it is up to them now. This is an elite warband. They need to act elite before they get in over their heads.
Natsanna seems to be doing well. She is happy with her duty so far and is learning from her time in the warband. This was happy to hear.
Yours faithfully
Irelia Dawn Bringer
