Entry #14
Sorry for taking so long, it’s difficult to write with how big my fingers have gotten. And type. I’ve been threatened with being fired for the last half week.
Who knew growing by 1% for 38 days would be a pain? I certainly wouldn’t have a week ago.
While Evan is nice and strong, he’s not strong enough to push me off, so this morning was fun, watching him struggle to get out of bed to go to work with me laying on top of him. Well, not fully laying on top of him, I didn’t want to break him. I eventually let him go when he promised to get me candy. He’s such a nice boy.
Prompt #14: Scour
---- “Not one here either...” Alistair uttered as he sifted through a bush. Another bush rustled and soon revealed a pink-haired, blue-eyed Lalafell wearing a pink Yukata. She shook her head, pouted, and hummed in a negative yet melodic fashion.
Alistair sighed, as he stood up and pulled out a piece of parchment from his satchel. “We will be out here for bells on end.” He held the parchment up into the light, revealing a slew of bad drawings. “It would have been much easier if it were much more clear.” Things would have been easier if he also had Alicia's help but she decided to stay back at the apartment. He then felt a tug on his pant leg. Upon looking down, he saw the Lalafell still pouting up at him. She was pointing at the paper as well. “Oh, here you go, Kanami.” He offered the paper to the Lalafell.
Kanami hummed happily, now being able to help figure out the badly drawn pictures. They were looking for something and it was part of a game. She decided to help Alistair because he looked nice and he was alone while everyone else had a partner. Alistair removed a rolled up piece of paper from his satchel before he knelt to the ground and fell back onto his rear, sitting with his legs crossed. He placed the rolled up parchment on the patch of grass in front of him and unfurled it, revealing it to be a map of Central Shroud. He then grabbed two opposite sides of the map and lifted up just a foot away from his face. “Now, we searched here... there...” The Lalafell tried to see what Alistair was looking at but no matter how much she leaned in she could barely see what was on it. A bunch of drawings, she thought. She growled a bit, puffing out her cheeks in annoyance; pouting once more. She wanted to look at the paper, too. So she crawled under Alistair's arm and into his lap. Alistair lifted his arm a bit once he noticed Kanami crawling into his lap and assumed she wanted to look at the map, too. Though, given how he was holding it, she would have to crane her neck a bit to see it. He silently placed the map on the grass in front of them so they both can see. “We have already been here,” He tapped a place on the map. “already grabbed a few raptor eggs.” Kanami hummed affirmatively. She thought those animals were scary seeing as they were as tall, if not taller, than her. “We retrieved the diremite silk from here...” Alistair pointed to another place on the map. But he noticed out of the corner of his eye that Kanami was looking at the bad drawings from the paper he gave her earlier. “Now we need mushrooms... from somewhere.” He scratched his head, mulling over the possible locations. “We scoured across this entire area and we still have not found any.” Kanami looked at the drawing and then looked at the map before looking back to the drawing. She hummed inquisitively at Alistair to get his attention. Alistair glanced down at the Lalafell and tilted his head. The Lalafell tapped on the drawing before she leaned a bit out of Alistair's lap and placed the drawing paper on the map. She hummed once again in the same manner, her brow was raised as well, signifying her confusion. Alistair leaned over the Lalafell a bit to get a better look at the map. His eyes widened a bit as realization set in. The drawing, however crude it may have been, matched up a bit with a place on his map. It was also a place they had not searched yet. He smiled happily and he lifted Kanami out of his lap, which elicited a surprised squeak from the Lalafell. “Kanami! That is a brilliant find!” He exclaimed as he put the Lalafell down. Kanami was surprised by Alistair's sudden outburst her head tilting to the side but she could tell he was excited for some reason. If only she knew what he had said besides her name. Stupid language barrier, she thought. Why couldn't they just read each other's minds and just understand immediately?! Alistair rolled both the drawing and the map back up before he stuck both in his satchel. “We have no time to waste. Let us be off!” He beckoned Kanami to follow him. Kanami nodded her head, offering a bright smile. She hummed excitedly, seeing as Alistair seemed happy and they were going somewhere else. She wondered if they were going to find the thing they were searching for there. This was so much fun! --- @darkamaya
