Magnises Takes Montauk for 4th of July
We celebrated this past Fourth of July weekend in true American fashion, enjoying the fruits of our labor throughout the pristine beaches of Montauk, knocking back cold ones and networking with Manhattan’s leading influencers.
On Thursday, our friends Ben Watts and Rassi Mazdack threw a once-in-a-lifetime blowout at Gurney’s with Milk Studios. Dubbed Shark Attack, this party was like something torn straight from the imaginations of Leonardo DiCaprio and Yves Saint Laurent. Thousands of young, beautiful socialites flocked to the resort’s beachfront as DJ Cash, Ollie Benz, and Zen Freeman all spun sets, working the crowd late into the night. A dozen or so Magnises members rolled through and sipped Coronas as the sun set over the ocean. But Ben and Rassi didn’t just stop there; they also busted out smoke-machine guns before sending hundreds of inflatable sharks flying into the audience. When the party ended with Journey’s Don’t Stop Believin,’ synced to dozens of fireworks, everyone lost their minds and welcomed in the weekend with laughter and applause. Afterwards, everyone swarmed the upper decks of Gurney’s for the official after party, before scattering to various bars throughout the area.
The next day, Montauk’s Surf Lodge debuted an art installation by the infamous Ron English. Ron’s work can currently be seen on the mural by E Houston Street, for all our members looking to check out some art in the Lower East Side after an evening at the penthouse. Curated by Red’s sunglass wear, these pieces drew inspiration from Warhol and played with darker themes within contemporary pop culture. Floral deer, Charlie Brown bursting out skeletons, and the incredible Hulk as a baby were just a few eye-popping sculptures that will surely stick with us. Later in the evening, The Growlers performed outside, a beautiful orange sunset falling behind their stage. Guests sipped Bacardi out of coconuts and partied at Surf Lodge until 4:00 in the morning.
Both of these evenings were decadent, but it was the festivities on July 4th that really tied everything together. At Gurney’s, Magnises members attended Bacardi’s Limonade Beach Party, sipping on complimentary cocktails all afternoon as DJ Mel Debarge spun sets. Afterwards, attendees dipped out to Surf Lodge and enjoyed a performance by EDM artist Chromeo. Throughout Montauk, fireworks erupted en masse, with Manhattanites and locals lighting beachside bonfires to welcome in another year of American sovereignty. This was one for the books. Until next year gang!
WTS International (WTS), a global spa consultancy and management firm, has been appointed to lead the refurbishment of The Seawater Spa at the Gurney’s Montauk Resort & Seawater Spa (Long Island). Beginning April 1, the company will also take over the management of the resort’s wellbeing facilities.
