The Right Tools || Catherine and Gus
This was a disaster. In the space of an hour the bracket that held up the shower (which was already half broken) fell off the wall and broke the shower head, her bedroom window was now rusted open and she had no oil to loosen it, and the hinges of a kitchen cabinet door had broken off when she was leaning on it trying to change a light bulb. Which ironically, Catherine never actually managed to do. The long and short of it? She was a disaster when it came to any forms of DIY and appeared to have become a modern day Calamity Jane in her own home.
And so here Catherine stood; in a hardware store with at least a shower head in her hand since it was the same as the one back home. As for brackets, hinges and something to fix a rusted open window; she hadn’t the faintest idea where to even begin. In a moment of madness she had rejected an employees help and now she felt too embarrassed to actually take him up on the offer of help. She was wandering up and down the aisles, holding something she wasn’t even sure was going to help her in order to make it look like she was ticking off a list. The reality remained; she hadn’t a fucking clue. Her gaze moved from the shelves, to the shower head and back to the strange tool in her hand. At this rate she was going to be spending the day in here.
