♥: reacting to the other one crying about something
Clare was packing up to go home for the day. It was pretty late, but she’d been staying late at the school for the past days, ever since Thanksgiving. She felt better working on something rather than being at home and thinking about…everything else. She had gone to return something to her locker before returning to the computer room to lock the room up for the night. When she got closer she spotted someone in the room. Was anyone else still in the building? For an instant, Clare worried that it was Asher, but then she recognized it was KC. Furrowing her brows Clare opened the door and walked back into the room, “KC…what are you doing here?” she asked walking back to the work station she had left all her things at to continue packing up. She hadn’t turned around to look at KC, but continued talking. “I was just about to leave since I just saw the time and it’s getting pretty late. Did you need something?” Clare asked as she zipped her backpack up and put it on her shoulder, turning to look at him sitting in the chair. It was then that she realized he was, or maybe had been, crying. Clare stopped and walked over to KC and dropping down to the seat beside him. She couldn’t remember the last time she’d seen KC cry, or if she had ever seen him cry. She felt terrible that she hadn’t noticed something was wrong when she first walked into the room. After a second, Clare placed her hand on KC’s and looked at him. “Are you okay? Did something happen?” Clare asked quietly. She worried about what could make KC cry, but she didn’t know how up to talking he was at the moment. After a few beats of silence, Clare was starting to worry about whatever it was that was troubling KC. Reaching out, Clare brushed her thumb against his cheek and looked at him. “Do you want to talk about it?” She bit her lip and glanced down at her hand atop his. “If you don’t then I can think of something to try and cheer you up.” A light smile tugged at the corner of Clare’s lips and she dropped her hands to her sides and stood up. After fixing her backpack, Clare grabbed both of KC’s hands and pulled him to his feet too. “Trust me.” Clare said as she started walking, turning the lights off when they left the room. She led him across the street and down the block to The Dot and knocked on the door when she noticed they were just closing up. The door opened and they walked in and Clare greeted, “Hey.” She’d often dropped by The Dot on her way home from school this late for a snack since she didn’t eat dinner–so long as someone was still inside and it wasn’t too late. “Can we get two milkshakes?”

Clare: Okay, so I have been staring at this layout for the Daily for what feels like hours (and might actually be hours) and something just doesn't seem right about it. I can't put my finger on it. Any chance you're free and can help me out?
