"Who am I when the world isn't looking?"
Does a tree make a sound when it falls in the forest when no one is around to hear? Do we perceive something because we are watching or do we put on a show because we are being watched?
Who am I?
Funnily enough, I thought of these questions just as I was riding the jeep to school.
I sat there anxious because I'm running late, excited because of the subject, and overwhelmed from the pain of being a woman. Then a commuter sat beside me, loudly chewing her gum with open mouth. That icked me.
My thoughts were running wild. Who is she? Why is she doing that? A lot of questions that seemed to judge the person beside me— until I sat with my thoughts.
Who am I to judge her so quickly? Do I even know this person as who she really is? Or am I just a foul person? Is this my true colors?
Am I the true me when no one is around but my own thoughts to judge? Or am I the friend, the family, the student that I show?
Social Psychology always seemed to speak to me. Like it sees through my very core. The lesson that day ended but more questions gnawed at me.
Who am I really?
