Devil’s Spawn || Matt & Foggy & Jack
Matt knows how poorly this is all going to go long before it actually starts. That he’s kept this a secret this long is a miracle. That he’s kept this a secret this long from Foggy, that’s something else entirely.
Sure, he wasn’t there for his son for the first few years of his life, his mother having hidden his existence from him. But the second his abilities kicked in, heightened senses like his own, Matt was brought in on it. For years he kept a second apartment off the books, one hidden well enough that only Nick Fury had been the one to know about it. He’d kept it quiet, working an operation on the sly for him, in exchange for this.
When that had gone nuclear, he’d be certain his family would be compromised, but it hadn’t. Sure, he and Jack’s mother weren’t at all close, in fact they near despised each other at this point, but Matt did what he could to protect and care for his son and his son’s mother. He’d gone as far as soundproofing the apartment, to allow Jack to sleep. Of course there were back entrances only Matt could access, but as far as state-of-the-art, this was as good as it got. This place was a fortress, tucked away in Eureka Valley in San Francisco. New York wasn’t a safe place for his son, so every once in a while Matt disappeared to visit his son.
Since arriving here though, Matt had spent a few nights a week with him, teaching him, mentoring him, and training him to use his senses to his advantage. When he’d told Foggy to meet him here he didn’t know how it would go, but he hoped it would start with a punch, and maybe be okay from there; though he highly doubted it.
