Temporary change of avatar

I like my TrumpSlug avatar. The avatar ended up becoming my Tumblr self (so to speak).

However, when I found out about Salomon (not 'Solomon', to my confusion) from that memetic game Tookyoo After-School Summoners, I wanted him to be my avatar during some time.

In light of the recen trend of making your own website, I have been slowly developing my own, focused on being my own characte repository. I already refined the CSS, but the folder structure is still in development, mainly because I am still working on where I would place all of my art, since several pages from several categories are going to share the same art pieces. I decided on putting all of my art in a gallery section inside the 'miscellaneous' category.

This picture, however, goes in the 'meta' category where I work wi the website itself. In this case, I give the viewer some guidance on how to navigate the site and give some recommendations on how to start. He i supposed to be on a bartop, since his outfit reminded me those of bartenders... but I am alcophobic, hence the drink is Coca-Cola.

If this art style looks familiar, then you must be familiar with Teletext. Being from Puerto Rico, this was obviously my firs time getting deep into thi system, though I ended up drawing this in Paint.NET. A big obstacle was Teletext being based on 2*3 pixel tiles. This means that an ostensible resolution of 40*24 pixels is effectively 80*92. Since working wi that many pixels at a time is too much right now, I drew in the ostensible resolution then stretched the image to th effective resolution. This newness to this format also mean that I usually used only full blocks instead of patterned blocks. This made some stuff, especially the hand, look weird. Th exception was in the soda, which wa supposed to be brown, hence I did th equivalent of printing a red pattern over a yellow background.

I am surprised at how easily Guy Ghoul's design translates to the 8 colours of Teletext, hough I had trouble getting the Tuft of Head Fur ight, while th ear stil looks wrong. The underbite mean that showing that gap that should be in the upper teeth looked weird, hence I left a curve on the mouth. Then there is his head stretching upwards, but clarity required that solution.

One benefi, though, was the image compressing to 752 bytes.

The font was taken from MODE7GX3.TTF from Galax. However, the CSS my website has was a handmade one inspired by Teletext, since my lack of true nostalgia of Teletext gave me different interests, while I needed to take care of usability. Even so, I may pick a different font when I do more of these.
