As much as i dont want to get involved in certain spaces and i am aware that I will (probably) regret writing this later, I've seen too many posts about this to be okay with it,,
I completely understand if you dont want the relationship between Patroclus and Achilles to be the main focus for Illium, I dont want it either in a way! But making posts like "I wish it was just implied to not ruf any feathers or step on any toes" sounds worse than you think it does. Theyre one of the oldest documented fictional queer couples, and yes, they are. "Well, [insert illiad adaptation] didnt do it and-" yeah, and we should condemn them for it, and we should call it homophobic.
Their relationship is how it is for a reason, no matter how little or how great, and as we all know it has quite the amount of consequence. It deserves to preserve its romantic nature.
Im going to ask a question and then im going to retrieve to my little corner, how would you all have felt if before EPIC came out, a bunch of people started posting about how "odypen doesnt need to be a main focus", like, sure, The Odyssey is about Odysseus' troubles to get home from Troy, but I do believe that stripping how much he loved his wife from the equation,, greatly impacts the sentiment of the whole thing.
Ok bye now if you plan on cooking me at least be respectful 🙏
