I was inspired by the recent GW2 trailer's dark version of "Fear not this night" and had to draw my BF's Sylvari Reaper, Tynan, along with my Sylvari Scourge, Yumishiori. Never drawn Sylvari before, so here's my attempt, along with the glow attempt lol (I've been doing this off and on for the past few weeks. I used a reference for this art.)

Saladbowld -> was originally my Caladbolg gijinka keyfarmer that I was supposed to delete. He stuck around and now has backstory ties to the Mad Realm. He's now known as the Drowned Reaper.

Hass (Has Seen Things in-game) -> some kind of creechur that's been tormenting/uplifting everyone that knows 'em

Lyikera, Researcher Kydda, and Setsa Gabbiani

What was the first thing you decided on, the character's name, appearance, personality or their role in the story?

For Lyikera, it was mainly role. I initially had the idea of Lyikera being the aspect of Trahearne after his death to kinda go along with my headcanon that Riannoc and Trahearne were close. So that would reflect with Roaj being Riannoc's aspect and Lyikera being Trahearne's. But over time, her role became that of Mordremoth's Scion and a "sister" to Aurene in that they both absorbed the excess Jungle Dragon magic and hatched at the same time in the same egg chamber within Tarir.

Kydda was also more role and then appearance. She went through two or three name changes before I settled with Kydda.

Setsa was appearance and name.

How did you choose their name and why? Was it simply based on vibes or is there any specific meaning behind the name? Are the reasons behind their name different in- and out of universe?

I tend to look up words in different languages and mash them together tbh. That's what happened with Lyikera. Unfortunately, I have a bad memory and I don't write shit down, so I forget what words I looked up to create her name. I think it was "light" or "pure" and "flower" or something 😅

With Kydda, I settled for that name cus I based her off Kid from Chrono Cross, and in my story she's Zyffre and Kuda's daughter, so the name really fit moreso.

Setsa Gabbiani's name is literally just Setzer Gabbiani from Final Fantasy VI. They're kinda a fantoon but also they have their own little story within the GW2 verse.

What was the thought process behind their appearance? Did you go mostly for the aesthetic or are there other reasons they look the way they do?

Lyikera was created with Aurene in mind. I wanted her tones to match Aurene, but added a bit of the pink to indicate she is her own person so to speak. Her off-model appearance would look more draconic than Sylvari, and her dragon form looks more like Mordremoth with a longer, serpentine body than Aurene's.

Kydda was created with Kuda and Zyffre's appearance mixed the best I could make it. She has more of Kuda's traits than Zyffre's =P

Setsa was basically modeled with FFVI's Setzer in mind.

What is an aspect of their appearance that you like the most?

With Lyikera, I am really pleased with her overall appearance. Her hair is prolly my favorite, there's a story behind her hairstyle changing as she matures.

I like Kydda's face the most, esp her eyes.

I like Setsa's hair. I do wish we had more facial scar options in character creation and/or cosmetics, tho...

How big is their role in the story? Do they make a frequent appearance or are they a character with little "screentime" but big influence? Or are they just a favourite background guy?

Lyikera has a pretty substantial role, being a newly hatched Elder Dragon with as much responsibility put upon her shoulders as Aurene.

Gonna be honest, I am reworking Kydda's story. She had been sitting in the backburners for a while and I've only recently brought her back to work on her when VoE dropped. She didn't have a big role, and was only in the background. She's due for a revamp.

Setsa was just a background character used mainly for roleplaying and who made a few appearances with their flying casino. And this was years before Canach made his own stupid casino in Arborstone. Setsa's casino is better.

What is their main character arc in the story? Where do they start and how do they develop? Do they get a happy ending or is their story a tragic one?

Lyikera hatched the same time Aurene did, during LWS3. Her journey was strongly connected to Aurene's, altho Lyikera was more in-person with the people around her than Aurene was. In the beginning, she tried to take on every major problem and felt like she failed during PoF. It wasn't until she went through Glint's trial with Aurene that she had a clearer vision and matured from there. I supposed she gets a bittersweet ending, as she too has the same fate as Aurene at the end.

Again, since I am re-working Kydda, I unfortunately can't say what her main arc is nor if she gets a happy or sad ending. Very sorry!

Setsa doesn't have a main arc since she was mainly used as an extra for RPs. Maybe one day I'll actually give them a backstory and she'll get to have a major role.
