okay so, I'm really awkward so i'm in anon atm-- BUT I WOULD REALLY LOVE TO HEAR MORE ABOUT MEL X GYENDAL!! the aveyond fandom is so small and i don't really have anyone to talk to about the games qwq i personally prefer rhen's quest bc i am Lars x Rhen trash but i could totally get into Mel x Gyendal is only SOMEONE could poison me into it *wink wonk*

AAAAAAH a fellow Aveyond fan!!  Omg I get the awkward, I’m a complete spazz when it comes to reaching out to people first, I’m like that person that sends an awkward compliment or review in guest and then vanishes XD  Legit though, I am a hopeless fangirl and I love ranting about Aveyond, so if you’re comfortable doing so totally send me a DM because I would love to rant about the games with you.

Oh no, I apologize in advance for the level of rant you have unleashed. I’m a hopeless crackshipper of these two. I have this weird list of all the reasons:D  So prepare for the mini novel rant

So first off can I just acknowledge first the obvious. Spook. That plot was a complete crackship rabbit trail and I love it. It’s actually what brought me around to the idea of MelxGyendal originally after Spook had revealed himself. Through The Lost Orb I had been giving all of my attraction points to Spook, because when Amanda designed his character she designed a personality that complimented Mel’s perfectly. Other than Te’ijal none of the rest of them really understood her moralistic grey area, the self-preservation instincts born out of a life where those around her seemed to be working against her survival.               For her, this life isn’t a game that she could go home from, and it would have shaped her. Then Spook comes along, and while he was absolutely a character played by Gyendal, the best and most convincing lies are created out of experiences and truth with just a bit of twisting. He had the understanding of her world and survival instinct, the dry sarcasm to match her outlook, the ability to keep up with her when Edward through the quests kept to the constant theme of not believing her/arguing over things/demanding information, ect. I’m not hating on his character, I love Edward, but I think that when I compare the two male characters in TLO Spook fits where Edward never did. And I ship Edward and Stella so much:D

The next big one is that based off Spook and how he seems to operate, there’s a good chance he would let Mel fight her own battles. Yes he would most likely be there to fight alongside since based off the vampire interactions we’ve seen with Te’ijal and some others, Vamps are seriously possessive, but it wouldn’t be a forced helpless maiden saving scenario. She needs people to have her back, but Mel isn’t weak and I feel like being put into a position where she wasn’t able to fight back for herself and speak her mind would be like a prison for her. She needs someone who won’t force their help or take over her battles, but rather be a companion and support that respects yes/no (or at least has the ability to still defend her but from the background)

Unlike any of the other characters, other then perhaps Nox, Gyendal is the only one who would understand the full pull of dark magic. Even Lydia’s spells were very nature/neutral although they could be used on the offensive. Mel, on the other hand, had full on dark magic, the orb staff pulled from dark spells like the Unholy Light. Gyendal in the battles also pulled on dark spells, making him the only one of main characters that would not only understand her journey after having been part of it in a strange way but would understand the call of that magic and the high that she talked about in Darkthrop Prophecy from it. Not to mention that in order for him to have become such a powerful mage the amount of study that would have been needed would have been immense. He would have centuries of knowledge and experience, creating a connection between him and Mel through exchanging of information and learning about magic.

He may have loads of charm, as already established when talking to the vampires in Ged’ahre who had crushes on him or the fact that he managed to completely take over the vampire council while Te’ijal was away, but Mel would be one person that would be immune to it. She knows what he is, what he’s capable of, and she’s already shown no hesitation when it comes to mouthing off to him and insulting him. He wouldn’t be able to sweet talk her into things, she would see through it and shut him down instantly, most likely with a dose of mockery. There’s no room to puff his own ego up by having a girl dote on him, she’s powerful and she won’t take crap.

Then there’s Mel, with her cynical and more hostile personality. He wouldn’t dismiss her suspicions, because he would understand that her instinct was honed by her life on the streets in a way only someone else who had developed that same cynicism and suspicion would. He would understand her hostility, her reckless side, and shifting morals, her sarcasm and sense of humor. She would be a link to humanity, through their connections leading to understanding and learning to appreciate differences. (Bc this may be crack but I like healthy romantic relationship dynamics for my main story focuses)

Bridging into the last two reasons is the focus on their sarcasm, their wit, how they process verbally. Both of them share that dryer way of talking and humor as shown a bit in The Lost Orb, they would be a constant challenge for each other. There would be no place where one would be neutral and give in to their partner, they would be challenging each other with new point of views while being able to reach full understandings on topics that friends who haven’t been in a darker place in life wouldn’t. They could keep up with each other in different ways, and together they would be an unstoppable force.

Another thing is that he wouldn’t ever let her just live and quest in denial. Like Te’ijal did right from Mel discovering her being related to Mordred, there would be a pushing for her acknowledge and accept that. No slacking on her when it comes to magic, he would be pushing her to accept and grow as a person, learn what she can and become stronger. 

A last huge thing in my mind is her freedom. Mel had grown up with freedom, lived several years after that roaming the world, her life wasn’t meant to be lived inside the same stone walls. Gyendal would understand that, based on the game with everything he knew about Aia and the travels for research he had roamed Aid enough to know exactly where he was going. He wasn’t trapped in a house and Mel wouldn’t be chained into a life of royalty/nobility where her freedom to travel and her ability to speak her mind would be leashed. The world would be hers to explore, and I personally think that Gyendal would travel it right along with her. 

Okay, I think that sums up everything I can think of for them right now XD  Definitely a mini novel, but I hope it was successful in at least sorta poisoning you towards the pairing:D  and that you enjoyed my rationalizing of the crackpairing lol. Despite all the reasons above I do still think it is a crackpairing, just one that’s at least sorta making sense and is soooo much fun to write XD XD

Ghed’ahre

PART TWO OF TWO: 

Eventually the landscape was fully formed, large trees and frozen grass blowing slightly in the icy breeze. He smiled to himself and continued to the middle of this new place, closing his eyes and allowing the darkness inside him to slowly seep out through his feet and into the ground. In his mind he began to build a city for the vampires, houses that reflected the nature of the vampires, the city separated into two separate spaces. Iron fences and stairs carving themselves into the ground, shops forming in the entrance of the city. When Rashnu opened his eyes satisfaction filled him at the sight of a dark gothic city having risen up in front of him. There was a large empty space at the far end of the city but Rashnu ignored it for the moment as he returned to Halloween Hill to gather the vampires.

Rashnu announced to the people that he had found a solution to their human problem and was met with excitement and eager shouts. Was he going to kill the humans off, or grant them invulnerability to holy water and stakes?

He shook his head and instead shared that he had created the vampires a city entirely of their own, where they could live their lives out without the humans terrorizing them. A place that would belong to the vampires alone. At first they were hesitant at the idea of leaving behind their home, abandoning the homes they had built and the ragtag city they had created. But Rashnu convinced them, speaking of his plans for having separate cities for the vampires, the ghosts, and the darkling and ogres.

He created a portal and ushered the vampires through so they could look through their new home and make a decision, watching as the vampires examined their new home with excited chatter. The move went quickly from Halloween Hill to their new home and soon they were all gathered around Rashnu who stood in front of the empty land. He explained that the vampires would no longer be living in a dysfunctional city, but would become a organized people. There would be a council and a vampire who he trained personally would lead this council as the vampire learned how to govern themselves. Then in front of the vampires eyes he turned to the empty space and held out a hand, Darkness flowing from him as he raised a massive stone cathedral. This would be the home of their council, this would be the start of their new society. Now he just needed to find a apprentice to lead the council. The young vampire Gyendal seemed promising, he had ambition and he might just be able to protect his people from the humans
