Yugyeom sat at the end of the bar and nursed his drink. This was his typical spot on Thursday nights. For the past two months, he had stayed until closing. It just so happened that there was a particular bartender that worked on Thursday nights.
“Excuse me,” Gyeom said, clearing his throat. The pretty bartender he had been watching all night walked over. She leaned on the bar and smiled at him. He lifted his glass and swirled the amber liquid around the few ice cubes left. “Do you think I could have another?” He threw his head back and finished the drink before placing the glass down.
“Of course, honey,” she smiled. Gyeom couldn’t help but notice how her green eyes twinkled when she smiled. She grabbed the glass and her fingers brushed his. His face began to burn, he wasn’t sure if it was the alcohol or her touch. He would usually only have two drinks the whole night, but tonight he was building up some courage. Liquid courage as his hyungs would say.
She returned shortly with the new drink and slid it over to him. He leaned his elbow on the bar and then his head in his hand. He smiled at her bashfully and turned his attention to the new drink. The straw in the glass was pretty entertaining. From time to time he would look up and follow her movements around the bar.
This wasn’t a loud or smoky bar. No, this was the type you’d find in the lobby of a 5-star hotel. He had stumbled upon it one night after work. He enjoyed the low lights and smooth jazz music. It helped him relax. He could be Yugyeom, not maknae, or someone that needs to be babysat.
“Excuse me,” he called again. She looked at him, slightly surprised. Typically he only spoke to her for a drink or his tab. She just gave him a new drink, so what would he need? She walked back over to the young man and smiled.
“Yes, dear,” she asked with her eyebrow cocked, “Did you need something?” She leaned against the bar and smoothed out imaginary wrinkles from her shirt. She smiled at the man and the way he fidgeted with his straw.
It didn’t go unnoticed that he was in the bar every Thursday. Same seat, same drink, same shy smile. He normally paid with cash or the rare occasion, a credit card; however, she couldn’t place his name. As fate would have it, tonight seemed to be her lucky night.
“What’s your name,” he asked lowly. He lifted his eyes to look at her. The alcohol in his body made him a little braver. He cleared his throat again. “You don’t, um,” he stumbled, “Um, wear a name tag.” He held her gaze this time. She smiled sweetly at him.
“I’m Y/N,” she said, reaching her hand out. He took it and introduced himself. Leaning forward, he winked at her. He didn’t want to let go of her. Her skin was soft and he could smell her perfume. She giggled and leaned closer to him. “Are you flirting with me, Yugyeom?”
“I was always flirting with you, Y/N,” Gyeom blushed. He didn’t have control of his mouth now.
“What? When did that ever happen,” you laughed, “I’m sure I would remember someone as attractive as you flirting with me.”
“I mean, I looked at you… And sometimes you looked back,” he said matter of factly. He saw this going differently in his head. Y/N laughed again and walked to the opposite end of the bar. Shortly, she returned and slid a piece of paper across the bar to him.
“Here, Romeo,” you laughed again, “If you remember this conversation tomorrow, call me.” He flipped the paper was saw a name and phone number scrawled across it. He smiled and tucked the paper into his pocket.
