Watching ships leaving the harbor was surprisingly soothing. The sound of the water hitting the stone and the reflection of the bright sun against the water was comforting. Finally something Jeyne could enjoy in King’s Landing. Being here allowed her to daydream. Maybe, one day, she’d be on one of those ships sailing away. She’d be able to leave this place and go back home. Imagining the possibility of getting away gave her hope. Though, if she ever had the chance of leaving, would she really do it ? She was too afraid of Cersei’s wrath to even try it.
She shouldn’t let herself get fooled as right now, she was to remain in King’s Landing and nowhere else. The smell of salt coming from the water broke her out of her daydream. The black-haired girl started walking through the harbor, getting closer to the docked boats. Being able to explore the city — at some extent —, like she had always wanted to, helped her forget the situation she was really in. Though, while she was able to walk through the city on her own from times to times, Jeyne was aware that Cersei had eyes and ears everywhere, meaning that she had to be careful — always.
Observing the ships and the sea made her curious. “I wonder if any of those ships is going to Dorne” she thought aloud, without realizing it. She’d always wanted to go there, though it clearly was not going to happen any time soon. At least a girl could dream. “I’d probably get seasick on a boat anyway”, she added in an attempt to comfort herself about her travelling fantasies being nothing more than, well, fantasies.
