i woke up and got to the gym at 730. it's been probably 6 weeks since i've been at the Y at 730 on a saturday to get my spin spot. talk about a weird deja vu like feeling. all those type-A people trying to reserve their front row spot...MA complaining that everyone wanted her to get their bikes for them so they could do other shit... it was almost like putting everything back in its place--it felt right.
about 8 minutes in to spin... i knew i'd made a mistake. i caught suzy's eye in the mirror and she was imploring me to get off my bike and leave, which makes me wonder if i was making a face or something. 8 minutes in. seriously. this of course made me want to beat everyone and show them i'm tougher (more stubborn?) than they think... so i stayed. and it sucked. but it was fun to be back with those idiots. i can't even count how many "CAROLINE!! YOU'RE BACK!!" shouts I got. Self-absorbed, I know.
About 3/4 thru class, I catch suzy's eyes in the mirror again. It took me 4 tries to figure out what she was mouthing. When I realized she was telling me she was gonna stick around and come to KB... I freaked out. A) Suzy has bad, bad plantar fasciitis. B) I don't think cardio KB is Suzy's jam.
I implored her not to stay--not that I didn't want her... I just thought this was a bad plan. But that woman is basically future me: there's no telling her what to do.
Suzanne's class ends, I suck down my protein shake and wait for KatKatKat to come over from Studio A where she was subbing an abs/core class (we're everywhere!)
Amanda strolls in, glaring at me, telling me she's mad at me. Why? Because I finally got the Monday class moved to 630 and she hates change? Nope. Because I "think" I know the "surprise." But apparently I'm "so wrong; not even close" and she wants me to "stop spreading rumors." News flash: I really don't think I'm wrong. But then again, I never do.
Moving on... talk about a packed house. 45+ today. Waters joined us. That place... it was rocking. It was insane. It was like we didn't have to do a dingdang thing. "Good Feeling" came on; the first few measured played and before I could say a word... people were hootin' and hollering. I looked at Kat and she just smiled and shrugged. It was fantastic.
Jamie joined the gym today!
After class, Kat, Waters, Ash, Amanda, and I are chit chatting per usual. I see this woman (I think she lives at the gym), whom sometimes comes to our class, almost get out to the parking lot when she turns around, comes back in and gently interrupts our conversation to say this:
"I just wanted to tell you girls... you're so, so fun. SO fun. I mean... is there ANY way you can get on the schedule more?"
At this point we were almost dumbfounded. We started to thank her and she said: "Seriously though. It's so fun, and it's such a nice break... and I just can't always get to your night class because I've got kids... and morning classes are so bootcampy... but it's just so fun... and I love it. And you need to know you're so awesome."
I think I almost cried. But then again, I'm overly emotional these days. It's like menopause or some shit. At 26, duhs.
Later in the day when Kat and I were recalling this interaction... we both mentioned how we'd seen her in class but that we thought she'd hated us and was just there bc she needed a workout. How wrong we were. Don't happen often.
I spent the rest of the day PDSing (burning my peeled portions of skin, whoops) with Kat while she made me try to beat her stupid candy crush level. We also discussed this whole stupid Kickboxing Surprise Debacle which is supposedly "not a big deal" and we're "so wrong," but screw everyone. THIS IS A KICKOCRACY AND WE ARE ALWAYS RIGHT.
We ate some sorta early bird dinner in GF while we planned the routine of death for Monday--which is only going to be used if we were right about the surprise. There's SO much hanging in the balance right now.
Basically, Monday is either going to be the absolute BEST day I've had in a long, long time... or it's going to be the worst. There's a chance it could fall somewhere in the middle... but that likely won't happen.
I bathed, half dried my hair, and met WatersWatersWaters for a few drinks in RTC (which was coincidentally bumpin' tonight bc it's free concert Saturday). 2 drinks, one poor rejected dude, and a shit-ton of froyo later... we went home.
She cracks me up. That girl is all over the place and I never know what I'm going to get. I like it because I don't even really have to talk. I just let her go and I'm plenty entertained. It's so easy.
We talked about everything and nothing. I don't even know where to start. Crazies everywhere. We joked about how insane class was this morning, being all packed and crap. She asked if I saw the "visor lady" up near the front--and I had, but not till the end.
Apparently Waters chatted with her, and the woman had asked how everyone seemed to know the routines--this wasn't the normal Saturday class, right? Waters explained that this is basically what goes down every M/W, and the woman was like ohhhhh, well... this is kinda fun! and it's like... not easy. When Waters told her that I wear a HRM and it sometimes runs over 600, the woman was like... holy moly.
I think my HRM lies, but whatever.
So yeah. Good, solid Saturday. More nothing tomorrow. Vomit-inducing stress on Monday.
