A scene for the amazing Valvert fanfic written by my dear friends @groucha and @ladysybille. Javert rides Gymont for the first time into Madeleine’s factory, trying to uncoverd his true identity.
Please do not forget to send them some love so they will finally post this glorious fic on ao3 🙏
Gracias! Merci!
Welcome to depression
You've done Javert for a similar one but would you like to do Javert for this one please? :')
I am always up for talking about Javert.
First impression- I hated him, and the first time I saw the movie, I was hoping he’d fall off the roof during Stars.
Impression now- NO, MY POOR GUTTER CHILD, I DIDN’T MEAN IT. I’M SORRY. YOU WERE JUST TRYING YOUR BEST. 😭
Favorite moment- It really depends on the adaptation, but I guess it’s when he confesses his “crime” to Madeleine.
Idea for a story- Anything with Javert and nightmares. I don’t know why, but I just really want to read a fic about that.
Unpopular opinion- This is only really unpopular with people not really in the fandom (or if you’re a director apparently), but JaVeRt dEsErVeS tO bE iN bArRiCaDe HeAvEn 😭
Favorite relationship- Javert and Gymont (yes, it is canon..., even if only on Russell Crowe’s Twitter 😅).
Favorite headcanon- I headcanon that whether he realized/acknowledged it or not, Madeleine was the closest he ever actually had to a friend (well, human friend... because Gymont...), which is what partially led to him to feeling so betrayed when he realized Madeleine was Valjean.
Gymont is about to have a snack (Madeleine's guineapig)
Sometimes I just like remembering that this picture exists. And also:
I'm kind of waiting for the Chouchou/Gymont fic.
Chouchou has not left Gavroche’s side all day, for he knows he is missing Cosette. Chouchou misses her too, his bright buttercup-haired girl who would slip him treats even when she was starving and sing softly to him when the big ones fought enough to make him whimper.
Gavroche’s fingers are buried in the fur at the nape of his neck when Chouchou lifts his head and pricks his ears for there is a distant sound of hooves and it is thundering closer. He glances at the boy walking at his side and nudges him protectively, as he always does at the first hint of change.
The horse is soon close enough to see, a fine dark stallion whose canter slows to a trot as he passes them. Gavroche has stepped aside to let them past and tips his cap, yelling out something Chouchou does not understand, and for a moment the horse’s eyes swivel towards the two of them. They are intelligent eyes, and Chouchou does not notice that his own tail has begun to swish from side to side. He nudges the back of Gavroche’s knee to apologise in advance before darting away from his boy, following the stallion.
Gavroche calls to him and his head droops a little at the disobedience, but every nerve in his body is on alert and he has an urge to discover why such a handsome horse has arrived in this little town.
The stallion has paused outside the inn and his rider has dismounted, dismissing his horse with a pat before heading inside. Chouchou seizes his chance, raises his head and gives out a light bark, hoping not to alarm him.
The stallion swivels his head towards the dog and responds with a low nicker, and Chouchou does not think he has heard any sound more worth celebrating in his life. He gives another bark and sits down, his tail sweeping dirt as it wags back and forth.
They introduce themselves: the stallion’s name is Gymont and he works for the police. There is a pride as he tells Chouchou this, a slight pawing at the ground and a toss of his mane.
Gymont asks him about a man, an old man with white hair, and Chouchou tilts his head to the side and tells him that yes, that was the man who took Cosette away. Is that bad?
Gymont seems to not know the answer to that, but he does lower his head and reply that Cosette shall hopefully be safe with the man. The man used to feed him sugar-lumps and often had a kind word ready for him. Chouchou is cheered by this, but there is still a prickling along his spine, for something is wrong and he cannot put his paw on what it is.
He is about to inquire further when Gymont’s rider emerges from the inn, patting his pockets and grumbling to himself. Chouchou jumps up and runs circles around the man, who frowns and gives him a slight pat on the head and an order to go away.
Chouchou reluctantly steps aside, glancing back at Gymont. Gymont responds with a shrug, for this is police business, after all, and Chouchou is merely a civilian who cannot get involved. It is frustrating, but he understands.
Chouchou stands up and lifts on his haunches to lick Gymont’s nose as goodbye, and Gymont affectionately gives a swish of his tail and a soft whinny before trotting off.
They do not know that once their muzzles are greyed they shall meet in Paris.
