I've always wanted to make an Adoption AU where Thierry adopts little Javert the first time he sees him. In my version, Chabouillet is Thierry's best friend, so he helps out a lot with raising Javert too. He's basically Javert's second dad. So it's kind of a story about little Javert and his two dads 🥺
In this AU, both Chabouillet and Thierry give little Javert the kind of family love he never had in the brick. So I guess this would be a kinda weird but really sweet little family of three? Maybe they'd even argue over whose last name Javert should take lol
Based on this idea, I drew some character designs. These are how I imagine them in this AU:
I'll keep making more stories related to this AU. If you're interested in it, feel free to come ask me about them anytime 😊😊😊
More gartic phones
This is literally what would happen in a Modern au Victor Hugo told me himself I promise
Bonus (worst night of javert's life):
"I trust you don't use this gun as a means of offing yourself, Javert."
Welcome to depression
‘If you would let me finish, Monsieur, you’d realise that this all makes sense and I am right!’
‘With all due respect, I’d try to agree, but I can’t even read your handwriting.’
After extensive Google-fu, I've compiled as much information as I can find on the French police bureaucracy during Les Miserablès and specifically, Javert's mysterious patron, M. Chabouillet. If anyone cares to add to this post, please do; I can't read a word of French, and aside from the almanacs, I haven't dug into any original documents from that time period. Most of my conclusions regarding the police hierarchy are from papers written in the mid-to-late 1800s, which saw great changes in the Paris bureaucracy.
An excellent file on the historical Chabouillet! (Or Chabouillé?)
