Further development on the science shadow org.

Its now called the Sanguine Project.

Other developments on the various departments:

Security: These guys are the head honchos in the labs. Their job is to police the other Departments and make sure everything is going according to plan in live tests. During a crisis all other departments report directly to Security. Additionally a lot of their time is spent keeping civilians and the legal parts of the Empire out of Project business.

Blood: Busybodies of the Project. They handle all of the blood related tests and usually are the first to get their hands on any new test subjects, performing intial analysis of their abilities and health. Most experiments have some degree of blood study or controlled aspect to them related to blood and as such a member of this department is involved in every experiment run by the Project.

Recovery: The strong arm of the project. The members of the Recovery Department take charge over retrieval and recovery of Project assets when that are... misplaced. They work hand in hand with the Security Department, who makes the final call on whether or not a mission is handed over to Recovery. It is department policy that preventing non-project forces from acquiring their assets at all is more important than retrieving the asset itself. This is usually completed by termination of the asset.

Psionics: An oddball department. Most of their studies relate to the lower end of the spectrum, but does also take a strong approach to studying the effects of purples and their chucklevoodoos. They have the highest rate of “misplaced“ assets and constantly need the assistance of the Recovery Department.

Cybernetics: This department focuses on robotics and cybernetic advances. They are the only department to never put in requests for test subjects. They often have a long line of volunteers.

Expansion: The front end of the project and only aspect of it to come into the public realm. These are the recruiters of the project, who keep an eye on potential assets for the program to acquire and bring into their fold. They also handle any requisition orders from other departments. Whether that be test subjects or equipment, it all falls under the scope of Expansion.

Submission: One of the less appreciated departments. They do not have a particular field to study, but rather a single objective to fulfill. Their only job is to develop advances in subjecting foreign and domestic threats. This usually pertains to civilian unrest and trolls with more rebellious tendencies.

Energy: The backbone of development within the project. Members of this department work with almost every other department in the finalizing of researched projects. They specialize in making sure everything works.Whether through mechanical sources or biological ones, these trolls give a developed project the final stamp of approval before it becomes mass produced for the Empire.

“Alright so moving on in our explanation of the Challenges of Ascension. We have Teals, Jade and Olive. Oh wait. So I asked around. Apparently Purples do their challenge by having a fucking talent show. You have to tell jokes and whoever tells the least funny joke gets the highest rank. I have no idea how truthful this story is, but I wouldn’t be fucking surprised.“

“Anyway. Teals. They play a board game. I know it sounds simple, but one of them tried to explain it to me and my eyes glazed over fifteen seconds in. Basically the gist is that they play as sectors and they have to out economy each other and do all sorts of weird shit to win. I don’t know the rules and I’m not ever going to learn them.“

“Jades are a lot easier to explain. We have two kinds of Jadebloods here on Gynwopol. Those that run the caverns and those that don’t. About ninety percent of them live in the caverns and deal with all the grub related things that I like to pretend happens without any problems whatsoever. A few of them decide to come topside and get assigned jobs, usually secretaries and things like that. For their challenge its literally just whoever is oldest.“

“They’re not that violent, so we tend to actually see a lot of really old jades, for a while they gave me a run for my money. On the other hand, we have olives. Probably the most violent of all our castes. They perform their challenge by wrestling. The only rule is that you have to remove your opponent from the ring.“

“I heard one time that one olive hit another one out of the ring with a ship. Like. Picked up a fucking cruiser and hit them with it. Go figure.“

“Alright, alright. Moving on to the other various castes of our beloved council. We have Purples, Blues, and Ceruleans. Something to keep in mind is that job and position are hand in hand here on Gynwopol. As such the Challenges of Ascension are all based around our jobs.“

“Purplebloods are in charge of policing all of the other castes. In times of strife they make up our policing force. They also run most of the religious structures on planet, but its a bit stretched. Honestly, no one knows how they decide their top ranks. Its a well kept secret that has no documentation on how it is decided. All I know is that between council meetings, no purple holds the position more than twice in a sweep.“

“Honestly its a little frustrating. You never know what to expect from the purples as their leadership shifts and changes so often.“

“Blues are a bit more predictable. On planet their job is to create and invent. Mostly develop warbots and bioweapons. They collaborate to come up with the craziest inventions that will supposedly be helpful. They tend to just break things.“

“As such their Challenge involves a knockout tournament where they put their creations to battle against each other. They used to hold a inventor’s fair forever ago, but that tradition has long since disappeared. Now they just make bets and battle it out in arenas. Their leadership tends to stay within the same four or five trolls.”

“Lastly we have the Ceruleans. They have an odd position within the council as Gynwopol Ceruleans have certain privileges not bestowed to any other class. Primarily they work as bounty hunters, but the caste as a whole is the “X“ for Hire caste. They decide who leads them in the council by who has made the most money.“

“Now for them this is much more complex as how much they have made gives them a color-based rank that decides what level of jobs they can take. Additionally normally only trolls with military clearance can go off planet, however civilian ceruleans can leave the planet given their color rank is high enough. Technically all Ceruleans on planet have military clearance. If we needed to quickly fill out our military, Ceruleans and Purples would make up the bulk of our fighting force. Also Olives, but that's for another reason.“

“Yeah, yeah, I’ll get to that later.”

Updated Sprites for the three Proditor hatchmates. Egover only got a small change, the other two got new horns. Speaking of which, I never actually explained anything from these three, but they’re not actually from Gynwopol. They come from another fan planet that’s full of heresy and sin. It got blown up. For good reasons. These three are among a group of grubs that where removed from the planet before its destruction for “scientific“ purposes.

Egover, (the rusty) was the only success out of these experiments. He also was the only one to escape and never be seen again. Sengen (violet) was a repeat failure and was tossed into the gladiatormentor arenas. And Verbra was too Tyrian (pretty) to meet the same fate and instead simply acclimated into normal Gynwopolian Society. At the time Gynwopol also needed another Tyrian to keep political balances in check. None of them have any memory of ever being from anywhere but Gynwopol.

“How do we handle our dead? That’s an interesting question. Given our current circumstances. We used to burn our dead, back before everything was sand and storm as far as you can see. Now we just chuck dead stuff out of Live Spheres and let nature take care of them.”

“Yes its efficient. No we don’t have a zombie problem. Well. I mean we used to not have one. Throwing the dead stuff out in the sand usually takes care of them pretty damn quick. Our sandstorms are harsh and rip apart anything that gets caught in them.”

“However, as you know from my report, lately the dead have been showing back up in Spheres. Someone is collecting the dead ones and guiding souls into them. They don’t come back as regular dead guys either. They’re almost... alive. But in general these fuckers show back up in a sphere in a large group and cause me absolute hell. The last few incidents we’ve just given up the sphere and detonated it.”

“So far they’ve only shown up in lowblood spheres, so it hasn’t made planetwide news yet. But this is a problem that will be dealt with I assure you. Its not possible to keep diving into storms to grab dead people and not be seen eventually.”

An exert from Artzin Geblut’s sweeply report of Gynwopol.

“Alright so maybe I lied on the last report. I have been informed that I actually could be impeached for ‘withholding’ valuable information, because of the ongoing investigation that I may or may not have been responsible for. Despite this, I will stick with the statement my more legislative friends have agreed that I stick to concerning said investigation. This stuff is a complete waste of time, so whatever. We’ll start with the violets as I know them best.”

“Violetbloods are hatched in very small numbers in our caverns. With the huge lack of water we don’t exactly have anywhere to put them anyway so its not too big of a deal. Despite their gills and supposed love for water, the seadwellers of Gynwopol usually have never actually seen a real sea. Those that can claim they have, have only experienced simulations or specialized Live Spheres. There’s one over in district four that is really nice. Think of it like a beachside hotel for highbloods.”

“Anyway, originally this low number was not the case for their population. Originally, Gynwopol was not a whirling ball of sand and dunes. So there were actually almost as many violets as there were of any other caste. Their challenge involved a duel of skill, where one troll had to be more accurate than the other. This usually meant duels via pistols and rifles. Since the huge decrease in their population there has been a law in place that stops them from being able to draw blood. Its a cullable offence on Gynwopol to injure a Violet Troll in a way that draws blood. Something about bloodlust or whatever. I don’t pay attention to or care for biological bullshit.”

“So now in order to not break the law and cause mass cullings, Violets challenge each other by playing chicken. The goal is to shoot the other one with actually shooting them. They pick weapons and then try really hard to almost shoot each other. Most of them can’t resist the urge to outright kill their challenger. Which if you do manage to straight murder them, then you’re good to go. As a dead troll can’t press charges. So either go for lethal or not at all.”

“This means that the best at shooting things winds up on the Council for violets. I trust you understand why I have asked for imperial reform for this system. Hopefully my continued reports can convince you and those higher that we need change on this planet. At least that is what someone would say if they had asked for the investigation. Yeah. That's exactly what they would say.”

“Are you really asking about the government structure of this godforsaken planet? We have olives on strike, violets murdering each other for seats, and a rust running around waking the dead. And you want to know about how our council works? Fine. Fuck it. I don’t run the empire. This is barely even my job.”

“Gynwopol is ruled by a Council consisting of twenty one members, two from each blood caste and one tyrian. All planetside laws are created and passed by the council. Members are selected through a process of Challenges within each caste. Rusts hold a popularity contest, Bronzies do some weird shit with bees, Yellows play chess, Olives wrestle, Jades decide by age, Teals play some weird board game, Ceruleans have a bounty system, Blues hold a robot battle thing, Purples have a… Yeah we don’t question how the purples pick their council members. And Violets play chicken. With guns. Yes it's just as stupid and violent as you think it is.”

“The Council makes all the important decisions for the planet. Where Live Spheres will be built. What resources are allocated where, etc. Each Council Member has a vote and color castes tend to vote the same so it usually turns into a high versus low argument. Meaning that member number twenty one, yours truly has to make a deciding vote.”

“Technically any of the tyrians on planet can be the tie breaker. The real reason why I usually make that call is that my ship has been grounded for several sweeps now, so the other two spend most of their time patrolling or in space. So yeah. I get left behind to write this incredibly boring reports.”

“What? You want to know the specifics of each Challenge? Like hell if I know. I don’t pay attention to any of that. It doesn’t matter to me how the pick their Council Members, only that someone is chosen and does their damn jobs. The only one I know about is the violets and that's only because every time they hold a challenge its huge news. Their population is small as is and they tend to make a god damned mess when they hold them.”
