31 days K-Drama Challenge Dramaaddict101 Version
Day 03: Your Favorite Lead Characters (Male and Female)
Male: Go Nam Soon (School 2013 II 학교 2013)
Female: Lee Gyu Won (Heartstrings/You’ve Fallen for Me II 넌 내게 반했어)
Go Nam Soon: I know that a lot of people like watching shows about larger-than-life, exciting characters with big personalities. I get it. Story lines are fun, entertaining, and gripping. And don’t get me wrong, I love those characters, too. But when it comes to the characters that really touch me, I’m more drawn more to the “everyday” characters--the characters that are probably more “normal” and maybe a bit “boring” but all the same so refreshing for me. I really loved Go Nam Soon because he seemed like the kind of person I could meet in real life. He’s just a simple, quiet student trying to make it by in life and get through school. But strip back his soft nature and you find someone with a really good heart and hurtful past. I think a lot of us are that way. There is so much more to people than we see.
I know that School 2013 gets flack sometimes for not giving due character development to its female students (which I totally agree with, they could have done so much more with those characters) but its flaws withstanding, I loved School 2013. I lot of that had to do with Go Nam Soon. I was taken by his sincerity and thoughtfulness. By the end of the drama, he was like a real person and I wished him the best of luck for figuring out the rest of his life.
Lee Gyu Won: Forgive me, this section is probably going to be shorter than Go Nam Soon’s. Let me clarify that it’s been a while since I’ve seen Heartstrings/You’ve Fallen for Me so it’s not fresh in my mind. None-the-less, I remember really liking Lee Gyu Won. I don’t always take to female leads, in K-Dramas and Western television. A lot of times I feel like they get reduced to plot devices or simply don’t feel authentic to me. Not in Lee Gyu Won’s case. She felt real and I really related to her. Maybe I just liked her so much because she reminded me of myself in a way other female leads hadn’t ;) She was my favorite character in the series and set the bar high for me for other female leads in K-Dramas for the future. Again. there was nothing fantastical about Lee Gyun Won. She felt like a girl I could meet at school and be friends with. None-the-less, she felt real in ways other female leads often aren’t. And I really liked her for that. She has a special place in my heart so of course she’s my favorite female leading character.

Heartstrings
So I finished it and. Well. I died. This is a great drama. Kind of underrated because it seems like not a whole lot of people now it exists. It's a great drama. The acting is beautiful. The singing is beautiful. Probably my favorite drama to date!
Lee Sin : but there's something more important than the Centennial Performance
Gyu Won : what is that?
Lee Sin : it's you. For me, it's important that you're not hurt nor sad. Nothing else matters
Lee Sin : why is your hair like that?
Gyu Won : didn't i say that my hair could be pulled out anytime?
Lee Sin : don't you still have me? i will stay by your side, so you don't have to tie your hair
