the reality of Reita's death didn't fully hit me until I read the messages from the other guys today.
that really made it sink in that this has actually happened and that he isn't with us anymore, not physically at least. his memory will live on and the mark he made on the mid-2000s visual kei scene was undeniable.
this hurts so much. you can tell how much he meant to them as a band member and more importantly as a friend.
(death talk after the cut)
if there's any silver lining at all to this, it looks like they were prepared and this wasn't a suicide or sudden accident. the announcement + the English translation in particular were likely prepared in advance and posted the day after his passing.
the messages from the other members also sound like they planned for the future after he's gone - that he was irreplaceable and that they will still continue as the GazettE with his spirit by their side. that's not something you decide in a day.
for comparison, when Polaris lost Ryan, they waited more than a week to post about it, and they took about a month to decide if they were going to release the last album that Ryan worked on.
similarly, when Atsushi Sakurai passed, the news only came out 5 days later.
on the other hand, when Tom from Architects died, it was in unfortunate circumstances that the band had already planned for and the announcement was made just a day after, similar to Reita's case.
Ruki's message also hints at health-related issues, when he mentioned how they would wish each other good health on their birthday every year.
whatever it was, I hope that he didn't have to suffer and that he's now free of pain.
