H Café, 3801 17th St., San Francisco, CA (Castro), Score: 31/50
Score: 31/50
H Café doesn’t have much ambiance and it’s in a busy part of town with little parking, but it has your coffeehouse basics. Prices are reasonable. Remember it’s cash only. There’s an ATM on site.
Food: 3/5 – They have the usual pastries, plus bagels, granola, sandwiches and salads
Coffee: 3/5 – The latte was quite bitter but gets better as you drink it. No foam art.
Wi-fi: 2/5 – Free, unlimited, unsecure, wasn’t able to log on though
Ambiance: 3/5 – Older building, long communal tables with wood chairs, ceiling fans, it looks better on the outside, inside it has a bit of a worn, thrift store feel
Noise: 4/5 – Quiet, some traffic sounds, refrigerator is loud
Plugs: 4/5 – Quite a few
Parking: 2/5 – Tough to find, 2 hour street parking about the best you can hope for
Comfort: 4/5 – Padded chairs, open/airy
Bathroom: 3/5 – one unisex restroom
Art: 3/5 – photos and drawings of SF for sale, affordable prices but not attractive
Tips: They used to have computers but those have been removed. Look for complimentary water.
