A brand new Ripper <street cartoon … S08E21
Snowflakes
Sergeant Drake was solidly convinced, by Reid’s grunts behind piles of documents, prisoners who made him ever so frustrated, and the monotonous duties around H Division, that it was another gloomy day. Winter time filled with desk work was not so cheerful. Even Artherton’s coffee sat unenthusiastically on the shelf in front of the windows that told them it was snowing, again.
Hours ticked into the afternoon, and Drake went to check if the training and parking area was properly shoveled. He was greeted by a cleanly swiped ground and groups of men faraway who did not notice him. Before stepping inside, unimpressed by the weather, Drake turned around to take another look just because.
Almost in slow motion, he saw a figure running towards him--a boy, blooming in his youth, sprinted through the air, cheeks rosy and hair flapping in the wind. His movement was smooth and effortless, as if flying amidst the swirling snow. Drawing near, he halted with a sway in his form, carrying a fresh breeze of vitality.
“Sergeant,” The boy was panting from the excitement. “I won the race!” With sparkling eyes, he beamed at the paternal smile, a pat on the shoulder, and a firm, warm squeeze to his arms that lingered for a moment.
After finally eliminating the mountain of paperwork, Constable Hobbs gladly went outside with a group of men seeking a good break from the tedious afternoon. Together they shoveled snow with great eagerness and started a mini sports event. The others caught up from behind and greeted their sergeant.
“Go and play.” With another pat, Drake half whispered to the young constable.
“Yes, sir.”
Hobbs trotted off in the falling snow, enjoying the simple pleasure of life. They were all boys of H-Division, but Hobbs was the youngest, a bright ray of promise and hope in the dark, bleak reality. His slender figure, of light colored henley shirt and suspenders, danced in harmony among the white, soft snowflakes. He was one of them, and he was all of them, adding to the world a touch of pureness and delight.
Yet Hobbs would not disappear but grow and thrive in the warmth and care of friends, family, and his Sergeant Drake, who watched his boy, so happy and carefree in the snowy afternoon.

Inspired by scribbledbyhand and pchobbs, and lots of snow in my area. ❄️❄️❄️
Even though I took so long to write this tiny fic that the snow has melted. 💦
My first attempt at writing a Hobbs fanfiction that hopefully makes sense. Thanks for reading!
