she turns to face him, hood already resting atop her head, pulled forward, her face shadowed in the dim lighting of their home. she appreciates all that he has done for her. she believes that she is more grateful than he could ever truly come to know, but --- a girl so known for being independent, for her strong will, though gentle as she may be, having been kept away in their tiny home had taken its toll on her.

❛ it's been long enough, obi wan. ❜ she says, her stubborn amber gaze taking hold of him. ❛ i can no longer be left to sit around all day with nothing to do and no one to talk to. ❜ that gentle sternness writes itself into the lines of her features, eyebrows gently furrowed as she has made her resolve clear.

the    gnashing    of    teeth,    canines    bared    in    the    dim    lit    filtering    in    through    abysmally    small    windows    (    he    remembers    staring    at    them    as    a    child,    so    used    to    the    bright    suns    of    tatooine    shining    through    openings    in    their    little    hut,    convincing    himself    that    this    was    a    prison.    a    punishment.    )    nails    dig    crescent    moons    into    palm    until    he's    unsure    whether    his    hands    had    ever    been    clean.    stained    red    with    the    force    of    his    wrath.    bright    eyes    dart    to    and    fro,    never    quite    settling    on    the    astonishingly    calming    force    that    was    his    jedi    master.    afraid    to    meet    his    gaze,    to    see    the    disappoint    that    would    surely    (    it    must!    he    must    be    a    disappointment!    )    lingering    in    those    icy    depths.    hands    move,    smearing    crimson    across    pale    cheeks    as    they    extend    in    some    attempt    to    halt    obi-wan's    approach.   

do    not    touch    me!    i    am    broken,    i    am    wrong!    such    vicious    thoughts    to    storm    through    such    troubled    mind,    eyes    bright    with    unshed    tears.    "    do    you    think    i    have    not    tried    ?    "    his    voice    rings    in    the    aftermath    of    his    thoughtless    destruction,    echoing    in    the    empty    chamber    that    housed    their    bodies    each    night.    anakin    aches    to    collapse    into    his    master's    arms,    to    cry    like    he    had    as    a    young    boy    of    the    unfairness    of    their    world.    to    cry    until    he    finally    felt    emptied    of    all    thought    or    feeling.  

  "    i'm    little    more    than    a    weapon    to    them,    obi-wan.    a    thing    to    be    set    upon    the    unsuspecting.    "    the    words    hiss    from    betwixt    his    teeth,    a    sniffle    of    his    nose    ruining    the    image    of    unchecked    rage    as    it    rapidly    cools    to    something    quite    like    shame.    "    i    just    want    to    rest.    "    to    lay    his    head    upon    uncomfortable    pillows    and    fall    into    a    dreamless    sleep.    none    plagued    by    prophetic    dreams    and    memories    of    great    violence.    he'd    hurt    so    many    people.

another    snicker    escapes    him    before    it    can    be    muffled    by    warm    leather,    hand    pressed    to    smirking    lips,    though    the    expression    is    not    hidden,    bright    eyes    crinkling    with    the    sheer    force    of    his    mirth.    it    was    rather    funny,    all    else    forgotten.    forget    that    they    were    on    some    backwater    planet,    surrounded    by    enemies.    forget    that    they    were    fighting    tooth    and    nail    for    their    lives    mere    hours    ago.    forget    that    he'd    taken    lives    as    easily    as    breathing    mere    days    ago    to    protect    the    man    splayed    out    in    the    mud    at    his    feet.   

smile    dims,    hand    dropping    from    mouth    to    stretch    downwards.    a    peace    offering,    though    smile    remains    firmly    upon    handsome    features.    "    come,    master.    it'll    look    childish    to    the    troops    if    you're    seen    playing    in    the    mud.    "    teeth    bared,    head    cocked    to    the    side    as    he    awaits    the    familiar    weight    of    obi-wan's    hand    in    his    own.

good    riddance    to    the    lot    of    them!    brilliant    blue    gaze    sweeps    along    the    destruction    wrought    upon    their    living    quarters,    bloodied    knuckles    pressed    to    the    pale    skin    of    his    cheek.    boney    elbows    precariously    balanced    upon    knees,    crouched    in    the    corner    like    some    feral    animal    to    be    tamed.    another    mission    gone    wrong,    another    life    lost    to    his    imperfections.  

  let    them    all    abandon    him,    let    him    rot    away    until    all    left    was    this    wicked    thing    that    lay    beneath    his    breastplate,    slithering    betwixt    aching    ribs    to    whisper    doubts    in    his    ears.    "    i    don't    need    any    of    them.    "    all    i    need    is    you!    can    you    not    hear    my    pleas?    voice    is    hoarse    when    it    finally    crackles    from    bloodied    maw,    face    uncleansed    from    battle    and    frame    finally    sinking    into    the    corner    it    had    chosen    upon    the    sound    of    footsteps.    it    was    obi-wan.    it    was    always    obi-wan    to    bring    him    back    from    that    edge.
