Facts About Emily Royer
Emily is daughter of a Orville Royer, an apothecary owner from a small village near Metz and the english magical researcher, Anya Nott. Besides not knowing her mother, Emily knows she is a pureblood, since her father never let her doubt about her blood heritage, even though he never speaks or tells anything about the woman.
Her interest for herbology and potions started since young age. She was always around, paying attention on her father’s work, interested in how he made potion. Emily was curious about the process of brewing and producing medicines for both muggles and wizards
Just like her father, she was sent to Durmstrang, since Orville thought that Beauxbatons wasn’t good enough on potions teaching. Emily however never fit too well at the school, since the girl was repulsed by sexist behavior of teachers and direction. Still, Emily graduated as one of the best of her class.
It was the summer before college Emily found out what happened with her mother. While moving some boxes in the attic, she discovered her mother’s diaries. When she showed them to her father, Orville decided to tell her the truth wishing this would be enough to push his daughter away: Anya was researching the origin of magic, how the magic is manifested in wizards, witches, magical beings and muggles. It was still in the beginning but the ideas behind this were very controversial, since it mixed muggle science with magical theory. Anya defended that the pureblood marriage was responsible for reducing genetic variety of the magical genes, hence the origin of the squibs, and with the right genetic therapy, a muggle could be able to use magic. She was killed by a group of death eaters that escaped from England with the Dark Lord’s first fall, since they wanted to make sure that her research would never see the daylight. Emily got even more interested on her mother’s works and decided to do everything she could to prove Anya was right.
Emily went on Berlin University graduating in magical theory and muggle bio-medicine. Just like in Durmstrang, she excel in her classes, gathering all the knowledge she would need to finish Anya’s studies. While studying to get her PhD degree. her brilliant intellect brought the attention of Tugwood Potion Industries. They offered her a job on their creative potion department in England to develop new products.
She worked for two years at Tugwood Industries until her job there starting to compromise the time she had to work her personal project. It was during that time that Emily heard that the famous potion master Horace Slughorn was leaving Hogwarts for good. Quickly, she dropped Tugwood Industries and applied for the job, since as a teacher, the woman would solver her time problem, while still being around a good apothecary and potion lab decent enough to keep her work going. It was no surprise that she was accepted and it’s been there since then,
Her biggest virtues as teacher is to be open to dialogue with her students and good will to repeat subject if anyone asks while her biggest flaws are not caring for school’s board politics and focusing only in the students that want to learn.
Emily couldn’t care less for the Hogwarts Rejects, however, she is intrigued by them and how they ignored magic for so long. it would be great if she could use one of them as sample for her study.
