ANYWAY lovely i was wondering if i could request a wesker x reader fic in which wesker has only a soft spot for reader and it's almost funny how obvious it is? if not i completely understand if this doesn't resonate w you i just think it's so funny to imagine wesker being evil and mean to everyone around him and immediately changing to being sweet/soft w reader bc. the whiplash is silly to me. anyways love you hope you're having a great day!!!!
84 years later, I decided to just answer this as an ask and see where it takes me cause I don't think I can write a full fic with this idea.
Wesker himself doesn't understand why he's so soft with you, it's actually a bit perplexing. But when he looks into your eyes, he can't imagine treating you with the same indifference or even aggression he does everyone else. You're his assistant, the one he got after '98 when he realised he had so many things on his plate happening all at once that he couldn't keep up with it all, so it was better to hire someone to at least organise his schedule and remind him of deadlines and meetings so that nothing falls through the cracks.
You do your job incredibly well and even take the initiative to handle things in his stead when his direct input is not needed so he can focus on more important matters. You remind him to take breaks and actually eat something - it's all included in his calendar, colour coded even - and when he dismisses your concerns by saying he doesn't have time to make something to eat every time he needs a break, you start bringing him food instead.
You massage his temples when he starts getting migraines because he hasn't looked away from his work in hours and the overhead lights that are bothering his eyes even through the glasses have gone from a glaring annoyance to a constant background buzz that he doesn't even register as something he could just turn off (you know how you might have music playing in the bg but you're so overstimulated it doesn't even occur to you that you could just. turn it off and give your brain a break?). Your gentle fingers on his skin barely help with the actual pain but he enjoys the touch nonetheless, closing his eyes and tilting his head back to let you massage away.
He likes your voice when you rattle off information about his scheduled meetings, who called for what reason, what progress has been reported where etc. And he likes watching your fingers tucking your hair away from your face or smoothing down your clothing or tapping absently on the edge of your tablet while you speak. You soothe him - just you, your presence, your everything - in a way that perplexes him.
So he's soft with you. Patient. Protective. He goes from coldly addressing Ada and casually threatening to end her life if she stops being useful to murmuring gently to you and removing your uncomfortable work shoes so he can swing your legs in his lap and rub your aching feet.
Maybe Krauser calls Wesker to complain about something but you refuse to patch him through because Wesker asked not to be disturbed and Krauser starts yelling at you, threatening you, calling you names. Wesker, of course, hears everything perfectly with his heightened senses, and teleports to your side to snatch the phone from your hand and very icily tell Krauser that the next time he even thinks about raising his voice at you or God forbid threaten you, he won't live long enough to finish those threats.
He slams the phone into its cradle, a snarl still present on his lips and his hands clenched tightly, but then his eyes fall to you and he cups your cheek and strokes it gently while his posture loses tension.
"If this happens again, just hang up, my dear. Don't let yourself get insulted on my behalf. And tell me afterwards so that the... problems... can be dealt with."
When he meets Excella and starts working with her, he tolerates her touches and stays close to her when they walk somewhere together but when he walks next to you? His arm is around your waist, he's opening doors for you, and as soon as you sit down somewhere he's damn near pulling you into his lap - that's how close he wants you. He yells at Excella for half an hour when something goes wrong with the trials because of her/her employees. When you accidentally mess up the dates of an important meeting because you were exhausted after pulling an all-nighter to stay with him during the beginning stages of using PG67A/W when it wasn't quite as stable and he was in a lot of pain while his body recalibrated, Wesker just tuts and tells you to reschedule and make his excuses for missing the meeting.
Then he slips a sleeping pill in your water because he knows you would never conceive of sleeping during working hours and drapes you across his sofa so you can sleep. He settles down so your head is cradled in his lap and works like that for the next few hours in peaceful silence.
Also maybe Excella tries to get rid of you because she sees you as a threat to her desired position at Wesker's right - rightfully so - and uses Uroboros to do it. It's never worked as intended on anyone else before because none of the test subjects have been compatible, so that seems the best way to get rid of you. Once you're dead she can explain it away as 'the poor dear wanted to please you so badly they just injected themselves with the virus to prove their worth, so sad'.
Except it backfires. Wesker finds you while you're groaning and crying on the floor, in agony as your body mutates. He holds you through it, petting your hair gently and trying not to crush you with his grip because every cell in his body is thrumming with worry for you and the desire to annihilate whoever did this to you - he knows you're smarter than to just inject yourself with something he told you you are not to get near until he's satisfied you will survive.
You survive (obviously 🙄) and once you can catch your breath, you tell him Excella was the one to infect you. When Wesker wants to tear her head off her shoulders, you stop him and tell him that it wouldn't be in his best interests to do that since he still needs her. Besides, what's done is done and you survived. You're stronger than you used to be, better. She tried to sabotage you but instead improved you - what better revenge than to let her live with that knowledge?
And then he doesn't die and you live happily ever after idk.
