likely our handsomest habitat tourist, and oh what a rogue: drew broussard, ladies and gents.
drew is one of a kind. he usually rocks with his band Future Dead Guys, but will be playing a rare solo & acoustic set full of some old and new original songs, and some fun covers. as a performer, he’s at once captivating & silly, severe & completely lighthearted.
more about drew: he’s a book person! he’s got a podcast! he’s a writer! he’s an actor! is there anything this guy doesn’t do?
come to friday’s show to find out!
You see how we do this, it's a little like church. As to whether it's religion, we'll leave that up to you.
OH MAUDE GUN OH.
maude gun is molly murphy & jenni messner and they are both wonderful solo artists in their own right, but the combo of the two is crazy good.
so much storytelling, so much ferocity, so much heart n soul pouring.
seeing them play on a rooftop is going to be one of those “am i dreaming or what is going on and who are these beautiful ladies and actually i don’t care they are wonderful” experiences. FRIDAY MAUDE FRIDAY GUN.
we are bashful to promote two thirds of the artists for our last show, coz they are US. but here we go:
dani evelyn grew up in the woods of california. Later, she got a guitar and moved to brooklyn. now she is an indie-folk singer-songwriter. intimate and fiercely honest, her songs are made for sitting in treehouses on late summer evenings. her first official release, The Treetops EP, came out May 12, 2015.
listen to the EP here, then come get a free download and hear some lullabies at friday’s show!

thank you to everyone who came out to our august 15th show, especially our hosts, Caity and Zach!
remember to check out Diego Clare, EW Harris, and Zachary Joy Smith - these folky gents are so, so worth listening to.
see you for our next (and final!) show on the 28th! stay tuned for details.
I met Diego Clare back in March at a friend's gig, and we got to talking about music making.
At some point in the evening, he generously handed me a copy of his album 'Diegesis'. I didn't have any cash on me, and when I expressed my regrets about not being able to pay he said, 'Don't worry about it. I just want people to have the music'.
Well I also very much want people to have this music. The album is gorgeously produced, made up of a fully realized, full band sound that is as powerful as it is incredibly intimate. There are so many subtleties in the composition that you only catch on multiple listens: that distant, killer guitar riff and bass line or beautiful, ethereal melody on the strings. The vocals and lyrics also hit you where it counts. When his sound is stripped down to just his voice and the guitar, the impact is just as great.
Such smart and soulful tunes. Come experience them up close and personal on Saturday, August 15th at 7pm in Astoria.
hosted by habitat tour veterans zach and caity smith in their lovely back yard!
