Joy, any advice for tiny Demon Roses? My sister cut back our roses a couple of years ago, and now whatever the dead yellow stuff was grafted to looks just like Demon Rose. These things are probably 50 years old, but now they're about five feet tall and a foot across (and growing about three feet in the past month).
Invest in long sleeve leather gloves for pruning when necessary.
We honestly don’t do a lot of maintenance to demon rose. We cut out dead growth when necessary and that’s about it. We appear to be lucky in that our soil is optimal for roses, but if yours isn’t, roses love blood meal fertilizer. And also banana peels. My dad used to use fish heads on his roses, and they were always the best roses in the street.
Some folks sent us some rose fertilizing pellets last year, and those seem to work really well as well.
A better plant person to ask who can go outside and enjoy their yard would be @systlin
