oh god that's super awesome with the pike leg!!!! and you could work on lowering as slow as possible this way, so basically negative lifting (or so i hear on IG) :D
Oh ... yeah! I’ll give that a try! I’m really happy with just being able to hold that. It felt like forever, but was like 2-3 long breaths, I guess, before I tried to lift it back up, but that wasn’t happening. Then I was tired and I just dropped out of it, but yeah, trying to lower it slowly would be a great challenge.
Thanks so much! I was really pleased with it.

you can def. see that your legs are bend :-) also i find when i have the hands to my heart i can sit deeper more easily than with hands stretched above me.
Yeah, I saw later that was how Savannah ( yogipeach ) did it, but I didn’t realize that at the time. I might try that again with my hands at my heart and see how it goes.
Thanks!

I think you're doing great!!!
Oh, thank you so much! I really need to try Wild Thing more often. We never do it in my yoga class and I never think to at home. I could probably get better at it if I practiced it a bit more.

great job! plank: try reverse tabletop; but you're doing great. if you do it a few times you get stronger and can hold it easier. use straps for cow pose to not put too much strain on your shoulders. and warm up before doing the poses :-)
Thanks! I definitely feel like reverse tabletop will help a lot in building shoulder strength, so I'll be throwing that in, too :) Now I've just gotta find something to use as a strap (towel or something) so I can also work on flexibility! Thanks for the suggestions!!

Thank you guys! I really need to try and do yoga on the beach at sunset more often. :-) It was a total win all the way around; really nice, peaceful setting for yoga and an awesome backdrop for photos. And, for the headstands, even if you fall, it doesn't hurt!

Val beautiful! I'm in FL for a conference. I took some beautiful sunset photos on the plane.
-------------------------------------
I have to admit that I might not have gotten this wonderful sunset for these pictures if not for one of the other yoga students messing up my plans.
I had gotten to the the beach 1/2 hr early and found a spot down the beach away from everyone where I could set my camera on a steady surface and do my #JoyfulBalance pose and my headstand for the day in peace. I had no more gotten my blanket spread out than another yoga student walked up and started asking me if this was where the yoga was. :/
I admitted that I didn't know, I was just gonna 'chill' for a while until the teacher showed up. We talked a minute and within that time the teacher did show up, further up the beach (from the direction we'd come). {sigh}
I felt a little annoyed that I didn't get to do my poses, but clearly the other student expected me to walk back with her to the teacher, so I gathered up my stuff and went with her, no poses done.
I let the annoyed feeling go, cos I knew I could do them at home later; it wasn't THAT big a deal, I had just thought they would be cool on the beach with the sun, sand, and surf.
Anyway, class ended just before sunset. Most of the students and the teacher sat there and watched it, but I excused myself, gathered up my stuff, and went back down the beach to my spot I'd scouted out. I felt self-conscious, worrying that they'd be watching me, but of course .. .WTF ... no one cares!
I was glad that I'd shrugged off the annoyance from earlier and the self-consciousness and went for it. I really love how these pictures came out, and am so happy with my efforts on the headstand.
All-in-all, it turned out perfectly. :)
