au i've had cooking in my brain for a while that's based on a single concept:
when megatron left him, orion pax was carrying. when optimus prime rose from the core of cybertron, he was not.
and the context is that megpax are sweet and sappy and in love and they're expecting a little bitlet, but not for a while yet. and then things go to shit and the breakup arc happens and megatron doesn't see orion again for a good while.
technically, he never sees orion again, because the next time he sees his now probably former conjunx, orion pax has become optimus prime. and based on the timeline, he should still be carrying, there's no way he could've gone through emergence at this point... but optimus isn't carrying. and megatron assumes that, whether orion miscarried or got a robobortion, their sparkling is gone
but ☝️ here's the twist: when orion went down to the core of cybertron and had his little audience with god, in forging orion into optimus, primus also plucked the newspark from orion's frame and grew them a body on the spot. so little baby is Alive and Well but Nobody knows what happened to them because optimus like immediately handed off his kid to alpha trion because the fucking War was happening :( and then maybe they don't get to see each other that much or possibly at all until wayyy later in the timeline

Currently working on the next fic (among other things) and I have been debating for a while about this.
