Hannibal Fan Art (#MythsOfBlood) for @hannibalcreative
With Will as Hades and Hannibal as Persephone. (And I'm sorry about the mess. Stylus is still broken, so I used pencils instead :D)
SO, long story short: I first had this idea around the Fullerverse event (by Hannibal Cre-Ate-Ive as well) but it hadn't been very concrete at the time. All I really thought of was putting Will and Hannibal in the American Gods universe, and have them be Hades and Persephone respectively. I've mentioned before how much I love Will being portrayed as Death (or any other similar being) in fanfic, so I thought, why not add Hanners in the mix? Turns out, it wasn't as easy as I thought it would be, so I sorta forgot about it.
BUT THEN THIS event began and the idea just POPPED back in my head WITH A FUCKING VENGEANCE because the details flowed in.
(WARNING: Pretty long read under the cut)

SO, still as an American Gods AU, Will was Hades whose memories of that time are buried inside him. Like most other Gods he did start powerful and then slowly weakened, but the kicker to his power is that to know Hades is to know death, and because there's no shortage of that soon, he himself definitely isn't going anywhere. But unlike most Gods, he has never craved prayers, nor has he actively sought them out.
Persephone was different. While she never craved prayer as well, her supply of it wasn't as abundant as his. She might've had several centuries of festivals and cults devoted to her, but as her name slowly turned into Demeter's daughter and Hades' wife, her presence slowly died as well. Hades had done his best to save her, all the while thinking that her death in his arms is the price of all the wrong he'd done her, while Persephone, who had learned to love him for the longest time, does her best to ease Hades of her death by assuring him that as long as winter comes and goes, she'll be there. Both of them knew that this was them grasping at straws, but he nods, smiles and agrees anyway. Persephone dies with a smile in her face and quickly returns to the earth as ash.
Afterwards, Hades volunteers to cover the world in snow in Demeter's place every winter.
At first, it was a case of him going in and out of the Underworld twice a year, but as time went on and people lost belief in him, he decides to live as a mortal on Earth permanently, leaving the Underworld to Thanatos.
He learns the ways of humanity while losing his original memories, but even after centuries of different lives lived, death always manages to follow him. And dogs. Dogs are a given. But then entered Hannibal.
By this point, Hades has now lived hundreds of lives but only knows himself as Will Graham. Fast forward all that jazz of finding the truth about the Chesapeake Ripper and his incarceration then release, in the process of "seducing" Hannibal, he comes to know him better and whoopdy doo, he remembers EVERYTHING because Hannibal is Persephone reborn. :)
BUT, where Hades would've had no doubt of himself during his initial capture of her, Will is completely at a loss for what to do. Here was his love reborn as a monster, with no clue of what they really were. Whatever happens next, even Will doesn't know.
AND THAT'S ALL I HAVE. I told you it got out of hand. xD
Anyway, I don't know if I'll ever come back to this in the future. It was a fun ride tho. :3
