When you're on the Naran-Babusar road, you'll come across the very beautiful #lulusarlake

While looking for tidbits about its history, I came across a throwaway line that you'll likely see in all the articles about Lake Lulusar: it was the site of the arrest of 55 #freedomfighters during the 1857 #warofindependence

Of course, that prompted me to look up more deets. Here's what I found: the 55th Regiment (not 55 people) of Bengal Native Infantry tried escaping to Kashmir, so they'd live to fight another day. However, the #eastindiacompany troops -- with the aid of the locals -- got to them first. It was at Lulusar that they rounded up 250 of the so-called mutineers. 40 met their deaths in front of firing cannons while the rest were hanged. No trial took place.

Before saying farewell to Naran, we thought we'd dip our toes in the ice cold river water one more time. It was really sunny as you can see and that made for a beautiful contrast since the water did its best to freeze our toes off. A good start before heading off to #islamabad

What's better than a restaurant in Kiwai? A waterfall restaurant, that's what!! The water was biting cold and our toes would go numb within seconds but we walked out new, refreshed people.

Pakoras fresh out of the karhai were available for munching on. Cups of delicious hot tea could be enjoyed -- we did! And there was a water tank full of live trout that were "caught" in front of you and fried right then and there.

We made a day of bonebreaking backtoback trips to #lalazar and #saifulmalook Our jeep driver was a man of stout heart who thought nothing of driving on the sinuous path -- I hesitate to call it a road since there was nothing on either side but a looooong way to fall --attending a phone call, and the fact that when it rained, the same path would turn into a sludge-filled slippery death slide. At several points, the jeep he would park on a teetering rock to give way to the other vehicles.

#attabadlake has a bloody past in that it was formed due to a landslide that claimed many lives. While it's beauty is something else, we decided to remember those who had lost their lives with a #fateha

A #boatride and some sampling of the water from the shore were part of our excursion too.

A visit to a lake so blue that it seems unreal!
